Powering into Poland! 2025 FIM World Sidecarcross Championship Round 4 - Preview

Gdansk in Poland holds Round Four of the 2025 FIM World Sidecarcross Championship this weekend.

Despite the best efforts by Killian and Evan Prunier in France last weekend, Koen Hermans and Ben van den Bogaart retain the red plate with a handsome thirty-plus points lead over their French rivals and defending champions Marvin Vanluchene and Nicolas Musset.

The French Champions improved their position significantly after a mechanical problem in Foxhill, but must now dig deeper to close the gap still further. They are only four points ahead of Britons Brett Wilkinson/Joe Millard, who have grown in stature and confidence this year.

The track in Poland is traditional hard-pack, built on a large piece of waste land, with a natural viewing area in the centre and all along one side.

Poland does not have a strong tradition of sidecar cross, but the FIM sidecarcross world championship has been welcomed here several times before and has never disappointed.

Marvin Vanluchene is fighting to get back to full fitness following a bout of Covid, but showed signs of his old speed in Brou. With this, the fourth round moving us towards the half-way stage of the season, the picture at the top is shaping up to be fascinating.

We have yet to see the style and speed we saw last season from the Latvian Lielbardis twins. They have had a couple of setbacks which seem to have thrown them off course momentarily. I say that because we know what they can do when everything falls into place, so don’t write them off just yet. If they can regroup and have a few solid rides, it could well trigger the comeback of the year.

Benny Weiss and Patrick Schneider took a race victory in Kramolin, and if they get the start, they have the speed and determination to do it again. Sitting fifth in the table, they are eighteen points behind Wilkinson, and nine clear of a resurgent Justin Keuben/Dion Rietman.

Gdansk also hosts the EMX Quadcross championship on the same bill, and that will inspire even more spectators.

It will be a very full weekend, so make sure you catch the live action as it happens on the live stream courtesy of FIM-MOTO.TV
