Formula Grasstrack Championship returns to Malpas for John Madeley Memorial & Pairs Showdown

The 2026 AllClear Services Ltd Formula Grasstrack Championship returns to Malpas Farm Shop for the second time this season on Saturday 15th August, with Round 6 staged as the John Madeley Memorial meeting. Alongside the individual championship battle, Malpas plays host to the third and final round of the Best Pairs Championship, making it a day of double significance across every class.

Following the drama of the Jonathon Rodgers Memorial at Hampton Old Hall, the entries for Malpas confirm another action-packed afternoon in prospect, with some significant championship implications taking shape even before a wheel has turned.

The biggest talking point in the Round 6 entry list is in the E-Bike class. Reigning champion Reggie Goodwin, who leads the overall standings on 119 points, is not entered for Malpas. Nor is Oscar South, who sits second on 114 points. With both of the top two absent, Hadlee Jones who sits third in the championship on 113 points and just six behind Goodwin, has been handed a golden opportunity to take the E-Bike championship lead in a single afternoon.

Jones is confirmed for Saturday alongside Cruz Harris, who arrives at Malpas looking to make it three wins on the bounce after back-to-back victories at Round 4 and Round 5. Harry Wicks returns to the E-Bike entry after missing Round 5, along with Maddie Adams, while Blake Woolley continues his consistent campaign. It is a five-rider field, but with the championship stakes as high as they are for Jones in particular, every heat will feel like a final.

Wayne Broadhurst arrives at Malpas having won every round of the 2026 season and leads the championship on a commanding 200 points. Graham Thomas (195 points) and Kevin Gwillam (187 points) are both entered and will be pushing hard to reduce a gap that has remained stubbornly consistent all season. Adam Hawker (180 points) is also confirmed, ensuring the top four in the standings face each other once again at Malpas.

Charlie Glaze, who sits fifth overall on 148 points, is not entered for Round 6, which opens the door for Phil Thomas (143 points), Glyn Edwards (138 points) and Colin How (137 points) to make up ground in the standings. All three are confirmed for Saturday and in strong form. Sam Crabtree also returns, looking to continue the consistent run that has taken him to ninth overall on 124 points.

Malpas also sees the return of Josh Baddeley and Colin Thorpe, both of whom last competed at Round 2, while Kieran Swindells, Nick Chadwick, Chris Chadwick, Ben Crabtree, Marcus Crutchington, Den Edwards and Sue Dowling all continue their campaigns. Peter Evans makes his championship debut at Malpas, adding a new face to what is already a substantial Senior field of 21 riders.

Harry Worrall has an opportunity to extend his Auto championship lead further at Malpas after Levi Collins is absent from the entry list due to racing at Roche. Worrall leads on 117 points with Collins second on 100, a gap of 17 points that could grow significantly on Saturday. Isla Gannon and JJ Falconer are both entered and will be aiming for strong results, with Gannon in particular having been one of the class’ most eye-catching performers since her grasstrack debut at Round 3.

The most noteworthy Auto entry, however, is the return of Kobi Gutteridge, who has not competed since Round 2 at Leamington. Gutteridge sits fifth in the overall standings on 48 points and will be looking to pick up where he left off and remind the championship what he is capable of.

Dalton Wright returns as the sole Cadet representative at Malpas, carrying an unbeaten record into Round 6 and sitting on 99 championship points. A full-maximum performance on Saturday would take him to 124 points and maintain his perfect season. Wright has been a model of consistency throughout the campaign and will once again compete in the combined Auto and Cadet races.

The Cubs championship picture could shift considerably at Malpas. Both Lucas Astley, who leads the standings by just one point over Rogan Woolley on 118, and Albie South are absent from the entry list. Woolley, who sits on 119 points, is entered and will be aiming to make the most of the opportunity to extend his lead.

Lillie-Mai Warwick is also confirmed, sitting third overall on 107 points and capable of closing further on Astley in second if she has a strong day. Dakota Wright, coming off the back of his meeting victory at Hampton, continues to build momentum on 93 points and arrives in confident form. Lilly Bence returns to the class, and AJ Bence makes his Cubs debut at Malpas, adding two fresh names to the entry and bringing the class to five riders.

There are no Junior class entries for the Malpas meeting. Archie Whitelam, John Cox Jr. and Jessica Cox are all absent, meaning the Junior class will not feature on Saturday. The championship standings remain unchanged heading into the second half of the season, with Whitelam on a perfect 125 points, Cox Jr. second on 118 and Jessica Cox third on 69.

Round 6 at Malpas brings the curtain down on the 2026 Best Pairs Championship, with both the Youth and Senior titles to be decided on the day. Heading into the final round, the standings are tight in both sides and several pairs have a genuine chance of winning overall.

Hadlee Jones and Harry Worrall lead the Youth Pairs on 138 points heading into the final round, with Cruz Harris and Lillie-Mai Warwick and John Cox Jr. and Dakota Wright tied on 131 points in joint second. Crucially, both Jones and Worrall are entered at Malpas, giving their pair every chance of defending their lead. Harris and Warwick are also both entered and will be pushing hard for the title.

JJ Falconer and Harry Wicks, fifth on 115 points, are both entered and could make a late push. Rogan Woolley and Blake Woolley, also on 115 points, are both at Malpas and in contention.

Colin How and Marcus Crutchington lead the Senior Pairs on 116 points and both are entered at Malpas, making them strong favourites to defend their position. Glyn Edwards and Den Edwards sit second on 113 points and are also both confirmed for Saturday, setting up a direct battle for the Senior Pairs title.

Wayne Broadhurst and Sue Dowling are third on 108 points and both entered, while Kevin Gwillam and Nigel Bowkett (105 points) and Max Broadhurst and Oliver Glaze (103 points) are also both confirmed.

Practice starts at 12:00, with tapes up for the first race at 13:00. Admission is free to Spectators.
