Conrad Mewse moved another step closer to the 2026 British MX1 Championship title with a superb 1-1 performance at Duns, extending his series lead to 26 points with just the final round at Blaxhall remaining.
Overnight rain left the Scottish circuit heavily rutted and technical, conditions that suited the Crendon Tru7 Honda rider perfectly.
Race 1
Mewse made a good start in the opening race, coming out of the first turn behind Travis Steels and Carlton Husband and amongst title rivals Oliver Oriol and Ben Watson.
Husband initially led, but Mewse quickly made his way to the front on the opening lap and began to pull clear.

Watson moved into second, but couldn’t match the pace of the defending champion. Mewse was faster on every lap and eventually crossed the line a huge 44 seconds ahead, with his quickest lap 1.3 seconds faster than Watson’s.
Watson finished second with Oriol third.
Race 2
Another good start saw Mewse exit the first turn behind Josh Gilbert and Oriol in Race 2, although some bunching in the next corner briefly pushed him further back.
He was soon back into third before passing both Oriol and Gilbert on lap two to take the lead.
Watson worked his way through from eighth to second, but with rain falling and the track becoming increasingly rutted, Mewse managed his advantage to take the win by more than seven seconds and complete the 1-1.
Conrad said of his day:
“When I saw the track in the morning, I knew it was going to get really rutted and technical which are perfect conditions for me. And I absolutely loved riding here on this track.
“It was a solid day and I can’t complain at going 1-1 again. Especially in that first race, I felt amazing – super-comfortable on the bike. But not so much in the second race as I was battling the track a bit but to win is great and I can’t complain. As always, the team did a fantastic job of and hat’s off to those guys – it’s nice to bring home another win for the Crendon Tru7 Honda team. So one round to go and it’s all down to the last round!”
The Duns double means Mewse now holds a 26-point championship lead over Oriol, with 50 points available at the final round at Blaxhall.
Crendon Tru7 Honda team manager Ryan Thorpe said:

Mewse now heads to Blaxhall with a healthy advantage and the chance to wrap up another British MX1 Championship title.
