Morris majestic at Nympsfield! 2022 UK EVO MX Championship Round 3 – Race Report & Results

Back on Sunday 22nd May Nympsfield in Gloucestershire was the place to be for round 3 of the 2022 Uk Evo Mx Championships. The track was in good stead and was very technical which was to catch a few competitors out during the day but nevertheless, it was to produce some good racing as usual.

Report and Images by Dave Rich

The Evo 125 class was fast & furious just as it had been at the opening two rounds but missing from the start line was John May who was away on holiday and Elliott Barrs, but riding Elliott’s bike was his brother Jordan. In the opening race it was the CR 125 of Daryl Bolter with the best start from Kristian Hutchins and Ryan Butler. Bolter looked smooth at the front and was starting to get away, but up into second by the end of the second lap was Jordan Carter who was on a mission and closed in on the leader and was to take over the lead on the next lap. Barrs was to also pass Bolter and was to chase down Carter who he was all over on the last lap, but Carter held strong and took the win by 0.731 of a second with Bolter taking third. In the second moto it was Bolter again with the best start from Carter and Barrs with Carter breathing all over Bolter on the second lap looking to take the lead, but Bolter held him off and Barrs was now all over Carter and after a lap of constant pressure Barrs got the better of Carter and was to close in on Bolter on the last lap and was trying to find away pass but it was to no avail as Bolter kept the door shut and took the win by literally 0.447 of a second with Carter taking a distant third.

The last race saw Carter hit the front from the off followed by Bolter and Barrs. Carter was soon into his rhythm and was to pull away abit, but all eyes were on Bolter and Barrs who were having a real tussle with Barrs eventually getting pass Bolter and was now closing in on Carter, but just as in the other two races Barrs had to settle for second in the race which gave him second overall behind Carter who was overall winner.

No 30 Jordan Carter & No 17 Daryl Bolter battling it out in the Evo 125 class

The Evo 250 class saw Jamie Skuse on his CR Honda blitz the opening race once he hit the front on the opening lap by winning it by some 20 seconds from Jamie Smith with Jordan Carrier taking third. In the second moto it was Carrier who led from the off from Smith with Skuse back in third, but not for long as he managed to pass Smith by the end of the opening lap and was to take the lead on lap 2 after Carrier made a mistake and dropped down to third behind Smith who was now in second but Smith had no answer to Skuse who went on to take the chequered flag.

The last race was full of drama from the off with Skuse leading but a slight mistake at the end of the opening lap saw Smith take the lead with Skuse now giving chase and he was soon challenging for the lead again and went around Smith and went through, but he went into the loose stuff at the edge of the track and hit the bank and went down hard. Smith regained the lead and up into second was now Carrier just ahead of James Kensington who was out on a Honda instead of his usual YZ Yamaha. Skuse had remounted and was soon up into fourth and looking to find away pass Kensington which he managed to do on the last lap and took third in the race which was enough to give him the overall by one point from Smith.

No 30 Shaun Church & No 353 Gary Biddle in action in the Over 50’s Twinshock class

The Evo 500 class saw Terry House on his Butler 490 Maico win the opening two races ahead of the KX Kawasaki of George Gough, but in the last moto it was Gough who took the win with House taking second after a battle with the CR Honda of Paul Edge which was enough to give him the overall from Gough with Edge ending the day third overall.

In the Super Evo Under 40’s class it was Oliver Consterdine on the CR 250 Honda who won the opening two races, but a Dnf in the last race was to put him off the podium and it was Chuck Davies on his KX 125 Kawasaki who won the last race and with two high scoring finishes in the other two races Chuck was to take the overall whereas in the Over 40’s Super Evo class it was Nathan Davies on the CR 250 Honda who took the overall with a 1-2-1 scorecard only to lose out on a clean sweep of wins by John Butler.

In the Over 50’s Super Evo class there was no stopping the 500 CR Honda of Jason Morris who dominated all three races with Jeff Evans ending the day second overall with third overall going to Nick Dyer.

Brian Wheeler was on song in the Vets Over 45 Evo class

In the Vets Over 45 Evo class it was that 500 CR Honda of Brian Wheeler who was to show his class again in dominating all three races to take the overall, but there was a battle royal to determine who was going to take second overall as Danny Blakeley on his KX 500 Kawasaki and Phil Lewis onboard his YZ 250 Yamaha went into the last race tied on points, so it was all about the last race and it was Blakeley who just took second behind Wheeler by less than a second from Lewis which gave Blakeley second overall.

The Vets Over 60’s Evo class it was that man Martin Coleman who powered his 510 Husqvarna to take the chequered flag in all three races to take the overall from Kevin Cole and Vince Crawley who took second and third overall.

Matt Nash dominated all three Under 50’s Twinshock class

In the Twinshock Under 50’s class there was a fine display of riding from Matt Nash who was to win all three races to take the overall with Philip Peaster finishing second to Nash in all three races taking second overall and James Reeves with a trio of third place finishes giving him third overall whereas in the Twinshock Over 50’s class we had three different winners with Kelvin Tatum winning the opening race from Mark Roberts who after winning the second moto was set to take the overall, but a Dnf in the last race ended his hopes of being on the podium and it was Shaun Church who won the last race and with good results in the other two races he was to take the overall.

Kelvin Tatum heads the opening combined Under & Over 50’s Twinshock race

In the Modern 2-Stroke under 50’s class there was no stopping Luke Dean on his 250 Fantic who was in blistering form and totally dominated all three races to take the overall with Rhys Walker taking second overall after finishing second to Dean in all three races and Thomas Herbert taking third overall with three third place finishes and in the Over 50’s Modern 2-Stroke class it was Lance Marshall who won the opening race from Richard Vincent with the tables being turned in the second moto so they were tied on points going into the last race so it was all out in the last race and it saw Vincent take it by a whisker from Marshall at the line to give Vincent the overall from Marshall with Jason Morettes taking third overall by virtue of the better race result in the last race over Rob Mead who took fourth overall on the same points as Morettes.

Luke Dean blitzed the rest of the field in the Under 50’s Modern 2-Stroke class
