Herlings, Heyman & Statt motor on the Mountain! 2026 MXGB Round 5 - Rundown & Results

Five-time World Champion Jeffrey Herlings produced a masterclass at Monster Mountain as the Dutchman stormed to a perfect 1-1 scorecard at round five of the 2026 Motul MXGB British Motocross Championship.

After days of heavy rain leading up to the event, the MXGB crew worked tirelessly to prepare the South Wales circuit. Sunshine and strong winds on race day transformed the venue, creating near-perfect conditions for a packed day of racing.

While Herlings proved untouchable at the front of the MX1 field, the battle behind him had huge championship significance as Conrad Mewse extended his lead at the top of the standings with a pair of second-place finishes.

Mewse grabbed both holeshots in the MX1 class but was unable to keep Herlings at bay. The Dutch star moved into the lead on the opening lap of both motos and quickly established a relentless pace that nobody could match.

Ben Watson completed the podium in both races, securing third overall and keeping himself firmly in championship contention.

Behind the leading trio, Oriol Oliver recovered strongly in race one after a difficult start, working his way through the field to claim fourth ahead of Tristan Purdon. Tom Grimshaw looked set for a top-five finish before a late crash dropped him down the order, allowing Adam Sterry and Taylor Hammal to move forward.

Race two followed a similar pattern at the front, with Mewse leading early before Herlings took control. Watson again secured third, while Hammal impressed with a strong fourth-place finish after a much-improved start.

Oliver and Purdon rounded out the top six, while Sterry continued his return from injury with another solid performance.

The overall MX1 podium saw Herlings take maximum points ahead of Mewse and Watson. In the championship standings, Mewse leaves Monster Mountain with a five-point advantage over Watson, while Oliver remains third and Hammal moves into fourth.

Heyman Continues Winning Run In MX2

The MX2 class once again belonged to Charlie Heyman, who continued his remarkable run of form with another flawless double race victory.

In the opening moto, Liam Garland grabbed the holeshot, but Heyman wasted little time moving into the lead. Jamie Keith and Charlie Richmond also made strong starts and quickly moved into podium contention.

Richmond enjoyed one of the standout rides of the day. The young rider held third place throughout much of race one and secured his first British Championship moto podium finish.

Further back, Tommy Searle produced a determined charge through the field after a poor start, eventually climbing to fifth by the chequered flag.

Moto two saw Heyman lead from start to finish once again. Richmond started strongly and ran second early on before Searle moved through into the runner-up position. Richmond refused to buckle under pressure and secured another third-place finish, earning second overall for the day and the first MX2 podium of his professional career.

Joel Rizzi impressed with fourth in race two, while Freddie Bartlett and Ollie Colmer completed the top seven.

The overall MX2 podium saw Heyman take another dominant victory ahead of Richmond and Searle.

The result extends Heyman’s championship advantage to 55 points over Searle, with Gyan Doensen holding third place in the standings.

Statt Claims 125cc Victory

The 125cc class provided some of the closest racing of the day.

Harley Marczak took the holeshot in race one ahead of Hayden Statt and championship leader Drew Stock. As the race developed, Statt mounted a successful challenge for the lead and took control at the front.

Stock moved into second late in the race while Arthur Moore charged forward from seventh to claim fourth after several riders encountered problems.

Race two saw Statt once again make the perfect start, leading from Joel Winstanley-Dawson, Moore and Stock.

Stock quickly moved into third and eventually secured enough points to finish second overall on the day, while Winstanley-Dawson completed the podium.

Marczak fought back strongly after a poor start to salvage seventh place in the second moto.

Overall victory went to Statt ahead of Stock and Winstanley-Dawson.

Despite finishing second overall, Stock strengthened his championship position and now leads the 125cc standings by 43 points heading into the next round.

Next up, the Championship heads to Canada Heights for Round Six on the 12th July.
