Round six of the 2026 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship at the iconic Canada Heights circuit produced another dramatic day of racing, with Oriol Oliver, Gyan Doensen and Bryan Gyles taking the overall honours in the MX1, MX2 and 125cc classes.

While all three championship leaders retained their red plates and extended their leads, the battles for the podium spots tightened; there were first-time winners, mechanical heartbreak, and plenty of standout performances further down the order.
Oliver Edges Mewse in MX1
Gabriel SS24 KTM’s Oriol Oliver claimed a perfect 1-1 scorecard to secure the overall victory, but both race wins came under pressure from championship leader Conrad Mewse.
After difficult starts in both motos, the Crendon Tru7 Honda rider charged through the field twice to finish second each time, extending his championship lead despite missing out on the overall.

Ben Watson’s day unravelled in dramatic fashion. The Dirt Store Triumph rider recovered from a first-turn crash in moto one to finish fifth before looking set for another podium finish in race two. However, a broken chain just two laps from the finish ended his race and cost him valuable championship points.

Tristan Purdon enjoyed his best meeting since returning from injury with an impressive third overall for SevenSeven2 Ride Kawasaki, while Chambers KTM’s Adam Sterry continued to be consistent in fourth.
Taylor Hammal worked forward from outside the top ten to finish fourth in the opening moto before ending the day fifth overall. Apico Honda’s Tom Grimshaw nailed sixth overall, Crendon Tru7 Honda’s Jamie Carpenter continued his recovery from injury with a good seventh, Absolute MX KTM’s Ben Edwards was eighth, Arenacross & Supercross specialist Dylan Woodcock had good day for the Dirt Store Triumph team in ninth, while Charlie Puntam had a great round for the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna team, breaking into the top ten with tenth overall.

The initial staging of Moto 2 was red-flagged due to a big crash from Bobby Bruce, who we are glad to hear didn’t suffer any big injuries. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Mewse now heads to the next round with a 16-point advantage over Oliver, with Watson slipping to third in the standings.
Doensen Continues His Charge in MX2
The MX2 class once again produced some of the closest racing of the weekend, but started with drama as reigning champion Tommy Searle had a big crash in practice due a bike issue which would see the Dirt Store Triumph rider miss both motos and drop to fourth in the standings in the process.

Championship leader Charlie Heyman grabbed another holeshot in moto one, but Gabriel SS24 KTM’s Gyan Doensen steadily reeled him in before making the decisive pass late in the race to take victory, with Heyman having to keep a hard-charging Chambers Racing KTM Ollie Colmer at bay for second. Behind Colmer who ended the moto in third was ASA United GASGAS’s Ben Mustoe in fourth, Dirt Store Triumphs Billy Askew was fifth, Jamie Keith in sixth, Chambers Racings Glenn McCormick in seventh, Joe Brookes in eigtht, SevenSeven2 Ride Kawasaki’s Joel Rizzi in ninth, who had to battle back from a second bend crash and Crendon Tru7’s Charlie Richmond who was in the same crash in tenth. Special mention goes to Jake Rackham for a great eleventh.
Race two provided one of the highlights of the season with one of the best British Championship races seen for years.
Keith led the early laps before crashing out, while Brookes, Askew, Mustoe and Heyman were all locked together in an intense battle. Brookes eventually found a way past Askew in the closing stages to claim the race win, with Rizzi producing one of his strongest rides of the season to finish third. Doensen ended the moto in fourth but was only two seconds off the leader as all four of the lead riders were super close as they passed the chequers. Mustoe would end the Moto in fifth, Colmer was sixth and picking himself up from a fall was Keith in seventh. Richmond would end the moto in eighth, and Red Plate Holder, who was suffering the heat, managed to bring it home in ninth ahead of McCormick in tenth.

Doensen’s fourth place was enough to secure the overall victory ahead of Brookes and Askew, making it a memorable day for the Gabriel SS24 KTM who did the MX1 and MX2 double.
Despite a difficult second moto where he was suffering with the heat, Heyman still extended his championship lead to 57 points due to his closest challenger, Searle, not scoring any points. Doensen moves to second in the standings with Mustoe leapfrogging Searle into third.

Gyles Capitalises in the 125cc Class
The 125cc class saw the biggest shake-up of the weekend as championship leader Drew Stock endured one of his toughest meetings of the season.
Arthur Moore claimed his first British Championship race win in the opening moto after holding off Bryan Gyles throughout, while Lucas Moncrieff completed the podium ahead of Hayden Statt and Stock.

Stock looked to have rescued his weekend by taking the chequered flag first in moto two, only to receive a three-place penalty for jumping under waved yellow flags. That promoted Hayden Statt to the race win ahead of Gyles and Joel Winstanley-Dawson.

Gyles’ consistency earned him the overall victory ahead of Statt and Moore, with Winstanley-Dawson missing the podium by just two points. Stock would end the weekend in fifth ahead of Archie Stapley in sixth, Lucas Moncreiff in seventh, Alfie Herron in eighth, Alfie Geddes-Green in ninth, and Fabian Morrison rounded out the top ten.
Despite the setback, Stock still enjoys a healthy 77-point championship lead over Harley Marczak, who didn’t race at this round, but is expected to be back for the next round, which is Duns in Scotland on the 9th August.
