First up Sunday morning were the Youth riders who had a greasy track to contend with after a one hour early morning shower. Thankfully the forecast rain never arrived at Driffield which always seems to be the case, as weather fronts lose momentum over the Pennines before they hit the east coast. Cristina Palmer was a class act on Sunday taking the holeshot and the Youth a win after the long journey from Scotland. RAW Team rider Bert Boam had a good battle with Hayden Stansfield, eventually Boam held a decent margin over Stansfield at the finish flag.

Harry Walker overcame a disappointing round 1 when he had mechanical issues, to take a good strong Youth B win at Driffield. James Lindsey placed P2 with local MX ace Riley Voase in third. Harry Croft thrashed his CRF110 around to win the auto class, Jacob Bragg had overheating problems on his KTM but still managed to grab runner up place. Jake Hannon rounded out the auto top 3 on his E-powered Oset.

With the track drying up very nicely it was then time for the packed adult AM race to fire into life, with Live transponder timing functioning really well, teams and riders crew were able to check riders progress and lap times from smartphones in the paddock and pits.

Cristina Palmer

Andy Kirby had a great win in the sportsman vets class at his home round, Kirby had an average lap time of 15 minutes around Driffield. Jonathan Ward placed runner up, just over one minute behind Kirby, Ward held off third place finisher Andy Williams by just over another minute. Aaron Crowder overcame a dead last start to slice through a packed Over50 class in the first two laps. Crowder went on to take the win from runner up John Bradford who thoroughly enjoyed his day back enduro riding. Andy Harvey used his MX skills to pick some good lines and to his credit ended up P3.

The sportsman class was one topped by the Young guns of enduro. Two riders who upgraded from Youth because they were considered too fast for that class are doing very well in the adult class. Brandon Burns ran out winner on his KTM250f, with Elliott Woodall delighted with his runner up position. Simon Cadman took the Novice class win on an 8 lap tally, still finding his feet after last year’s shoulder injury Simon looks set to be the man to beat in the Novice group.

Driffield is always a long lap around the 650 Acre site. A nine minute delay starting the PM race was due to 2 riders having ran out of fuel on track in the AM race. So Race director Wayne Braybrook insisted that those riders were recovered before the full on Adult PM Race were flagged away. With world stars sat on the start line set to rip up the Driffield gravel it was essential they had a clear track.

Aaron Crowder

Expert rider Ryan Crowder used his MX lightning start ability to lead William Hoare and Billy Bolt around lap one, in his own words Crowder said “I was having that first lap if it killed me”, on lap two it was the Hoare and Bolt show, both riders amazing onlookers with their awesome skills around a club Hare & Hounds event. Billy eventually controlled the race with scheduled fuel stops to take the win by a clear lap. Will Hoare was just 53 seconds behind Bolt as the flag went out. Ryan Crowder was super happy with his third placed amongst the world’s elite Enduro riders.

A clear pattern is emerging from the Clubman ranks as Scott Hipwell took his Appleyard supported Husky to a fantastic win, Scott is no MX rider but he stepped up well on Sunday to take a solid win around a testing track. Tommy Grimmer still getting used to his New Appleyard Supported Beta Racing bike was happy with his runner up place. Chris Bailey is now back on the case and at full fitness ready to search for overall clubman honours, his third place was his best result for a long time. These top three riders are set to each have wins in what promises to be another belter of a year for Clubman racers.

Brandon Burns

Martin Sandiford out on a Borrowed Sherco 300 4t put in a great Sunday shift to take the elite vets class win. His old MX buddy Paul McSorley placed runner up having enjoyed his first RAW race of the season. All round fitness addict Paul Daley Smith was well suited with his third place on his TM.

After a hugely successful weekend RAW would like to thank everyone who took part, a shout out to everyone who got up at 4am when scumbag thieves (tried) to take some bikes….they got more than they bargained for at RAW… Nothing went missing apart from the thieves as they ran like babies…

Onwards and upwards, no one knows where were going as a country with Sporting events, if we have to have a break then so be it, peoples health MUST come before our fix of bike racing. To all those who are fighting the virus in any way shape or form, we applaud you.
RAW Enduro will provide (legal) events (fully permitted) whilst the permit-issuing authorities allow them, in the meantime….. let’s all pull together and stay healthy, it’s the one thing we can’t buy.

Coming Soon….. RAW Enduro App on Andriod and Apple… Exciting times, RAW Progress.
