Riley Ray Barrow is one of the UK’s best young Motocross talents and joins our Winners Circle after winning the 2022 Kensworth MXC Junior 65cc Championship which he retained after triumphing in 2021 also.
11-year-old Riley-Ray hails from Northampton and has already racked up a number of titles in his young career, and will be moving up to the Small Wheel 85’s for 2023.
We asked him about his 2022 Kensworth title-winning season:
DH: What were your goals leading up to the championship?
Riley-Ray: To stay consistent, win all of my races and retain my 65cc title.
DH: What were your favourite and least favourite tracks in the series?
Riley-Ray: My favourite track is FatCat, my least favourite is Mildenhall which is where the last round was.
DH: What was your best round of the championship and why?
Riley-Ray: The two dayer at FatCats. I loved the rough track and got the win in every race on both days.
DH: What was your worst round of the series and why?
Riley-Ray: Mildenhall was the worst as we only got one race in due to the bad weather conditions.
DH: Who are your biggest rivals in the series?
Riley-Ray: My biggest rival was Franky Donoghue. He was the boy closest to me in some races.
DH: How do you feel to win the championship?
Riley-Ray: I was so happy to win all of my races at every round we entered and to take the holeshot prize at every round and to retain the championship.
DH: Who would you like to thank for their support?
Riley-Ray: Mad 4 Motocross, VIP Motocross, RMJ Rookie Academy, JMR Foundation, Holland Build, GET Racing, RSS, Goggle Tek, Motoverde, Sean Burns Fitness, CI Sport, Madison Cycles, Ashley Wilde, JD Electrical, and lastly my Dad for making it all happen, and getting me all over the country to races and for training.
DH: What are your plans for 2023?
Riley-Ray: To podium at every round as I have moved up to the Small Wheel 85’s. I would also like to get selected to ride for Kensworth in the Team Event, to train harder, race easier and try and get on the podium in the Nationals.
Thanks to Riley-Ray for answering our questions.
Now he is in the Small Wheel 85’s will he be able to replicate his feat of this year where he went unbeaten at Kensworth in every race he entered?? We wouldn’t bet against it thats for sure!
