Team Scotland buzzing for VMXDN Foxhill 2023!

Not long until the gates open on VMXdN Foxhill 2023 on August 24th – 28th.

The excitement is mounting, and Team Scotland Managers Sean Doherty and Raymond Thomson are finalising kit and preparations ahead of the epic event at the former GP circuit near Swindon. There is a real buzz within the team and anticipation levels are building. The expectations are high and rightly so, with Billy MacKenzie, Bryan MacKenzie and Gavin Robertson in the team, you have some of the best riders to come out of Scotland. The banter has already started with Mike Brown and Billy Mac trading blows over socials so if you want to see it spill over onto the track, you need to be there!

Billy MacKenzie will be lining up for Team Scotland. Two -time British motocross national champion. No stranger to lining up against motocross greats worldwide, the former factory rider rode for Factory Kawasaki, C.A.S. Honda, and Dixon Yamaha and competed in the FIM GP World Championship, where he took both MX2 and MX1 wins in Japan. He has also represented the United Kingdom in the Motocross des Nations. Billy won the ScotMX Championship in 2022 on his KXF 450 and is still in the running in the Scottish Championship 2023. If that wasn’t enough, he’s also riding the REVO British Championship against some of the best Britain has to offer.

Joining Billy on the team will be his cousin, Bryan MacKenzie. Bry started racing at age six, he cut his teeth at schoolboy level, securing multiple schoolboy titles before continuing to the adult ranks of British Motocross at 16. In 2009 he stepped in to cover for Billy at C.A.S. Honda, taking a top-10 race finish in Sweden and in 2013, he secured the overall win at Desert Martin. Bryan raced for 15 years at a competitive level before retiring at the end of the 2016 season. Bryan is no stranger to VMXdN. He enjoyed riding Farleigh on board a KX500, battling with Mike Brown to the last corner in one race and only just pipped for the win. Last year, it was a YZ250 that was his weapon of choice and he’ll ride it again in 2023 but with a few more laps under his belt as he prepares to prove he can grab a race win!

Gavin Robertson returns to represent Team SACU Scotland for a third year running after competing in the inaugural race in 2022. Having previously rode at Farleigh, Gavin is a great rider and more than deserving of his place. Gavin’s passion for motocross began at age 5, leading to a motocross career that spanned three decades and led to multiple successes at regional and national levels – claiming various youth Scottish titles, a Scottish adult 125 title, several top three adult Scottish open championship finishes, a Scottish evolution title, as well as a British evolution title. He is back on the circuit after a brief retirement from motocross and a switch to MTB racing for the last few years. This spell refuelled his passion for the sport. Although Gavin is a two-stroke fan, he’s the man to beat in the Scottish Twinshock Mono Class where he rides a CRF250. Wherever he rides, your guaranteed 100% from him every lap!

The SACU Scottish VMXdN team will be travelling down to compete at the vet’s motocross event on the August bank holiday weekend with thanks to their sponsors. It’s an impressive list!
