Nunn shines for Team GB at Coupe De L’avenir
Rob Hooper Racing Yamaha’s Sam Nunn put in a tremendous performance for Team GB at the weekend’s Coupe De L’Avenir Team Motocross event in Belgium.
Nunn joined teammates Tom Grimshaw and James Barker in the open class, and with super-fast times in qualifying and fourth in the qualification race, he was given the Team’s second gate pick, which made getting to the front from the start challenging. Sam, however, battled through the pack in each moto and posted three solid race results, with two eights and a sixth for sixth overall individually, with the Team finishing a fantastic second. With the scores from the 65’s and 85’s, Team GB ended the competition in fifth.
Sam said of his weekend, “I had a solid weekend in Belgium at the Coupe De L’avenir. I showed good speed and results in both days in qualifying and the races. I’m happy to finish 6th overall in the open class and for Team GB to finish 2nd in the open class overall.
“I felt like my results could have been better with better starts, but I’m still happy with how it went. Thanks to Rob everyone at the Team for all their help and Dave Garland for picking me to represent team GB.”

We now just have the Weston Beach Race to go with Sam before we take a break for the winter and assess our plans for 2022. Nunn heads to one of his favourite events of the year, the Weston Beach Race, which he has won five times as a youth rider. This year he will be racing on Sunday in the main adult event, lining up alongside 1000 other hopefuls.
