Moving on to the Muntjac! ACU Eastern Enduro Championship – Preview

The final round of the GH Motorcycles/Husqvarna ACU Eastern Enduro Championship takes place in Thetford Forest on Sunday 20th November.

Preview and Images by ACU Eastern Enduro Championship

All eyes will be on GH M/Cs rider Ben Cole – 450 Husky who leads the championship on 67 points with 2021 Champion Luke Parker – 350 Matt Pope Gas Gas in second on 60 points. Both riders still have to drop a round as only 5 out of 6 events count which leaves Cole 3 points clear. The top ACU Eastern riders will have hot competition as the 2022 ACU British Enduro Champion Alex Snow on an Alex Snow Off Road 350 Gas Gas has entered. Snow came 3rd on last year’s event behind winner Steve Holcombe and Luke Parker and will be looking to improve in 2022…

Other top riders entered in with a shout are Ben Clarke 300 Malcolm Rathmell Sport 300 Sherco. Ben had a great ISDE ride with Braintree Club and then finished 2nd to Jack Edmondson at the recent Butley enduro. Welshman Charlie Evans only rides for fun nowadays but he still has the speed as does former MX aces Jake Nicolls and Aston Bird. Jake is known for not walking special tests which means his initial test times may not be competitive but he tends to get faster and faster on the later tests.

In the expert class, Joseph Hall 250 Gas Gas has already won the title with 4 wins and in the Clubman class Robert Armitage 250 Sherco has also wrapped up the clubman award and has entered expert class for this event. In the expert and clubman vet classes, the champions are yet to be decided.

The event continues to be popular and filled up with 200 riders in less than 20 minutes with riders making the journey from all over the UK.
The start time will be 09.00 with the test timed for Championship Class on laps 1, 2 & 3 and then championship riders will face back-to-back tests on lap 4 before riding their final 5th lap. Experts should have 5 laps with 3 timed tests and Clubmen 4 laps with 2 special tests timed. Veteran class riders in expert and clubman will have a slightly modified riding schedule so riders will need to check their schedule.

As ever, we must thank our long-term sponsors, GH Motorcycles and G&B Finch and all officials, marshals and helpers that enable us to run this event. We wish all riders a safe and successful day – please respect our forest, use environment mats, don’t leave any litter and follow the regulations and final instructions
