Guillem Farres strengthened his grip on the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship with victory at the MXGP of Turkiye, as a strong weekend for Triumph Factory Racing saw the team leave Afyonkarahisar holding first and second in the championship standings.
Farres came into Sunday on the back of victory in Saturday’s qualifying race and continued that form with 2-1 finishes in the two points-paying motos to claim his sixth Grand Prix victory of the season.
In the opening moto, Farres quickly moved into third before using a tighter line through turn two to move forward. The championship leader then hit the front and led for six laps before eventually finishing second.
The Spaniard made sure there would be no repeat in race two. Farres took control on the opening lap and stayed out front all the way to the chequered flag, securing the moto victory and the overall.
The result marked Farres’ 13th race win of the season and extended his championship advantage to 50 points with two rounds remaining.
Farres said: “It was a really good weekend. Winning the qualifying race yesterday was a great start and then today I went 2-1 for the overall. I felt really good on the bike all weekend and I’m happy to extend the championship lead again.”
McLellan moves into second in the championship
It was also an important weekend for Farres’ Triumph Factory Racing teammate Camden McLellan, who finished fourth overall with 3-4 results.
McLellan battled through breathing difficulties during the GP but still collected enough points to move into second place in the MX2 World Championship standings.
That leaves Triumph riders occupying the top two positions in the championship heading into the final two rounds, while the manufacturer also leads the MX2 Manufacturers’ Championship.
McLellan said: “It was a tough weekend for me. I struggled with my breathing, which made the races difficult, but I gave everything I had. To leave here second in the championship is positive and hopefully I can be back to 100 per cent for China.”
Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager Vincent Bereni praised both riders after another strong weekend for the team, with Farres continuing his title charge and McLellan moving into the championship runner-up position.

Farres now takes a 50-point championship lead into the penultimate round of the season in China, with McLellan 10 points ahead of Sacha Coenen in the fight for second.
The 2026 MX2 World Championship now heads to Shanghai for the MXGP of China before the season concludes in Australia.
