Conrad Mewse delivered a stunning performance at Landrake as the Crendon Tru7 Honda rider swept to a dominant double race win at Round Four of the 2026 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship to take over the MX1 red plate for the first time this season.
On a track fairly local to his Shepton Mallet home, the reigning British champion looked untouchable throughout the day, backing up his qualifying pace with two commanding moto victories to move one point clear at the top of the championship standings ahead of Ben Watson. MXGP regular Oriol Oliver now sits third in the series standings.
Mewse started the opening moto in style, launching out of the gate before emerging from the first turn in third behind Steven Clarke and Oliver. Drama struck almost immediately when Oliver crashed heavily on the face of a jump, with Mewse doing well to avoid getting caught up in the incident.

Once into the lead, Mewse checked out from the rest of the field in devastating fashion. The Honda rider stretched his advantage to an incredible 18 seconds by the chequered flag, while also posting lap times nearly two seconds quicker than anyone else on track.
Behind him, Ben Watson fought his way into second after an entertaining scrap with Taylor Hammal, while Oliver recovered impressively to fourth.

Moto two saw another strong start for Mewse, although he admitted he sat up too early out of the gate and lost momentum heading into turn one. Despite being buried inside the top ten initially, the Honda ace quickly carved his way through the pack and soon found himself hunting down race leader Watson.

Recognising his superior pace, Mewse made a decisive move before immediately pulling away once again. His pace was nothing short of phenomenal, with his fastest lap over three seconds quicker than the rest of the field as he secured victory by 8.8 seconds. Watson again finished second, while Oliver snatched third from Hammal on the final lap.
The double victory marked Mewse’s first overall clean sweep of the season and handed him the championship lead at the halfway stage of the series.
Mewse said: “A perfect day with a double win and I’m now leading the championship which is so nice. It’s been a while since we’ve had the red plate on the Honda so I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been through a lot this season so to come out on top is a big weight off my shoulders.
“The track was very technical and a lot different to the first three rounds. We’ve gone from having three rounds of sand to slippery hard pack. The track guys did a fantastic job as there were plenty of passing options. They couldn’t have prepped the track any better.
“In the first race I got a good start and moved into the lead quickly and got the win. In the second I was chasing Ben Watson and sometimes it’s easier to be the chaser than to be chased. But one on corner I went outside and got so much drive – more than I expected to be honest! So yeah, it was nice to get the pass done and I concentrated on pulling away as fast as I could.
“It’s shaping up to be a good championship. All three of us are riding really well and it’s going to be an exciting season but there’s still a long way to go. I’ll get my head down, keep working and I think this is just the beginning for me now.”

Crendon Tru7 Honda team manager Ryan Thorpe was full of praise for both Mewse and the team following the emphatic display:
“What a day for team, with obviously the highlight being Conrad’s performance to win and finally get the red plate on the Crendon Tru7 Honda,” said Thorpe. “All day he was full of confidence and you only have to look at the lap times to see how much faster he was than anyone else. It was a stunning performance, and I’m pleased that he told me how happy he is on the bike.
“That’s a testament to the team to be able to get the set-up just right for him.”
