Bawn kicks up a storm! RORE/Dorset Enduro Winter Warmer Series Round 4 – Race Report and Results

Storm Dennis did not deter the hardcore from battling it out for some final championship points in the final round of this years RORE/Dorset Enduro winter warmer series.

In the Championship class Derek Bawn took gold and was the only competitor on 16laps. Second place was Josh Player, who has secured his series win over what have been some challenging races. In third was Stan Watt on the 2020 Yamaha WR250F who rounded off the class as the other five racers didn’t finish!

Dean Kiff was the winner in the Expert class and came second in the overall standings, narrowly missing out on an extra lap. Second was Owen Richards who had a rough start but racked up some blinding laps towards the end despite a deteriorating track. Giles Richards was third, coming a commendable 5th overall.

In the Expert Vets, Dan Groom was top dog, setting the fastest lap and the most laps of the group! Second was Cefyn Games who took a while to adjust to the Dorset soil. Third was Graham Reid, the last Expert Vet on 13 laps.

In the Clubman A class, it was Harry Davey who took the top spot; following a good start he kept the momentum going till the end of the two and half hours. Second was William Bliss who set the fastest lap of the class by nearly 10 seconds! Third was Harry Neal who is presumably still recovering from a great result at last weekend’s gruelling BEC.

Mark Buckell won the Clubman B class and was the only competitor from the group on a brilliant 13 laps. Second place was Peter Colmer who ‘loved every minute of it’ and narrowly missed out on the extra lap. Third place was Shaun Ash who pulled a comfortable lead from fourth-placed Terry Marsh.

In the Clubman Vets class, Neil Ross was the guy to beat getting a blinding start, however, at the halfway point Simon Thomas took the lead, leaving Ross to settle for a very respectable second. Third place was Dave Sawtell, who should have won judging by how fast he was in the pub afterwards! We love your enthusiasm mate.

Jon Door took the top of the podium in the Sportsman class, showing consistency is key, all of Jon’s lap times were within a minute of each other. In Second place was Jordan Kiff who came an amazing 44th overall. Third was Frank Newtington who set the fastest lap of the whole class by over 15 seconds.

The Sportsman Vets’ class was won by Daniel Houghton who was the only competitor on 11laps and narrowly missed out on a 12th. Second was Mathew Mackinnon who had no trouble keeping third place at bay putting over a lap between them. Paul Gibson was third, and after joining us on a few coaching days we are super pleased to see he has taken the plunge and started racing.

A huge well done to everyone who attended this event, with such a damning forecast we really appreciate your support. All huge thanks to Craig and Shane for the timing. The Summer series begins on the 12th April, we will aim to do a practice day before then to award this series trophies. The following people need to contact Em about returning your trophies, Ricky Wiggins, Ian Fortune and Lewis Gigg.
