Chambers Racing’s Ollie Colmer will make his MXGB MX1 debut at the Blaxhall finale on Sunday, trading his 250 for a 450 for Round 8 of the 2026 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship.

After spending the majority of 2026 competing in the MX2 World Championship, where he finished 19th, and racing the British Championship, where he currently sits 10th in MX2, Colmer has been training aboard the 450 since Arnhem and recently got his first taste of racing the bigger bike in the Irish Championship.
Now Colmer will line up against the British MX1 field at the final round of the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship, and he has revealed to Dirt Hub that the move has been made with one eye firmly on 2027.
“The decision to race Blaxhall on the 450 all came around with the plan of potentially moving up next season,” Colmer told Dirt Hub. “It’s to get another race under my belt and be a step ahead coming into the 2027 season.”

It comes at the end of what has been an important year for Colmer, who has contested the majority of the MX2 World Championship and believes his performances at GP level have shown the progress he has made during his first season in the class.
“Reflecting on my first MX2 season, I had some great results once I found my feet in the class and really showed that I can run in the top 15 consistently, so I was really satisfied with my progress.”
His British Championship results haven’t always reflected that same progression, something Colmer puts partly down to starts and the strength of the MX2 field.
“My results have been very up and down in the British and there hasn’t been enough consistency with my starts. With that class being at such a high level this season, with loads of competition, it made it very tough to come through the pack when having bad starts. With the GPs, of course the tracks are rougher and I’d say I have that extra 10 minutes to really push through and catch those fading riders when fitness comes into play.”
Colmer is one of the taller riders in MX2, and the move onto the 450 has so far proved a positive one.
“Since Arnhem I have been training on the 450 and it’s been going quite well. I enjoy having more power. I had a little taster of the 450 racing in Ireland. It all went positively, just a couple of mistakes, but I was happy with my riding. Each day I ride the 450 I make progress and that’s important for me. It’s brought enjoyment to the end of my season, learning how to handle and ride it differently to the 250.”
And while nothing appears to be set in stone for next season just yet, Colmer admits a full-time switch to the 450 is now looking increasingly likely.
“In my eyes the end goal is always to race MXGP. At this moment in time it’s very likely I am going to be stepping up to the 450 class. Of course this is a very big step. I know with hard work and dedication like I have, and the backing from my team, I am capable of being in the mix.”
That makes Sunday’s Blaxhall finale considerably more than simply an opportunity to have an end-of-season blowout on a 450. Colmer will get an early indication of where he stands against an established MX1 field, although he isn’t putting a specific result target on his first British Championship outing on the bigger machine.

“I am going into Blaxhall open-minded. I realise racing the 450 is a different ball game, so I need to be smart and adapt to the bike in a race situation. With that being said, I won’t hold back in any situation. I want to prove that I am capable of racing the 450 in the future.”
Whatever happens at Blaxhall, Colmer is already looking towards a potentially bigger 2027 campaign, with his relationship with Chambers Racing looking set to continue.
“2027 plans are looking bigger, let’s say, but also a lot will stay the same. The support from Chambers Racing has been very beneficial in my past two racing seasons and we are looking to continue together. It’s just a matter of timing before everything is in place.”
Before then, though, there is one final race weekend of 2026 to attack — and Colmer intends to make the most of it.
“I’ve been looking forward to Blaxhall for some time now. I really like the venue and the ground there, and the crew always do a great job of prepping the track.
“I always like to go out with a bang and leave everything out there on the track after my last race — and that’s what I’m going to do.”
