Williams Boss’s Norwood! Raw Enduro Rock Oil Championship Round 4 – Race Report and Results

Norwood Teversal in Nottinghamshire hosted RAW Enduro last Sunday, with Rock Oil Round 4 running on a brand new track through the old school woodland venue. Bone dry conditions left clerk of the course Wayne Braybrook with an easy task plotting a nice flowing track for riders to enjoy.

Youth A Riders Josh Knight and Bert Boam were locked in battle for the entire one and a half hours of the youth race. On the final lap Knight planned his move to perfection passing Boam to take the win by a mere 1 second at the flag. Cristina Palmer lost the tow from the front two runners, a third on the day was no disgrace being on an 85 compared to the front two on 150’s. Harry Walker had a great ride in Youth B to take the win from James Lindsey. Evan Sharpe had his best race to date with a solid third on the day, despite a last corner error leaving him sat on the floor under his bike.

Lily Marshal

Rider of the day was Lily Marshal taking the Auto Class win in her first year of competition. Jake Hannon grabbed runner up place on his Husky 50 after Harry Croft took a fall coming into lap scoring on the final lap, Crofty enjoyed his race talking third place.

The young guns were out in force in the sportsman class going head to head at the front of the pack. John Stanley grabbed the win on his 125 Sherco, Elliott Woodall overcame a slow start to finish strong in runner up spot. Tommy Tate got tangled up on the start which meant he was the last sportsman to leave the start, with work to do Tate got his head down and placed third at the flag.

Newcomer Peter Thomasson was victor in the novice class just ahead of John parker with Nathan Handley in third. Danny Clarke grabbed the Sportsman Vets win with Championship hopeful Nick Barrow again scoring heavily in runner up place. Lee Hutsby rounded out the top 3.

For the PM race RAW Marshals had two extra loops pieced in to test the more experienced riders. Elite Vet John Shirt set off with the Expert class and grabbed the holeshot! Admitting to feeling less than comfortable at the head of the experts, Shirty enjoyed almost a lap out front until a small slip off allowed the fast experts past him. Shirty went on to win the Elite Vets with Neil Marshal placing runner up.

Expert class honours was a crazy mad race with Jamie Williams taking his first-ever Expert class win since upgrading in January. Jack Spencer looked hot favourite for the win but it was clear to see William’s urgency in his riding is totally what gave him the advantage. Spencer placed runner up narrowly missing the lead lap by 22 seconds at the flag. Ben Hamilton had an awesome race in top expert company to place P3.

Scott Hipwell

Clubman riders were as close as ever, holeshot hero Scott Hipwell led from start to finish with a clean faultless ride. Tommy Grimmer has title hopes for this year, his runner up place did his championship no harm at all. Chris Bailey again delivered a solid finish in class with a strong third place. Bailey now looks fully fit and he’s confident he can begin to challenge for wins as we run into the second half of the season.

Another fantastic event ran like clockwork thanks to all the RAW marshals and helpers. Special thanks to all riders for keeping the paddock so tidy, no litter was left and for that Wayne Braybrook is very grateful.

Next the Championship heads to the remote hilltop venue of Lee Dell on the hills above Bury Lancashire for round 5.
