We caught up with Lexa MX’s John Adamson in our Saturday MXGB Pre-Brief ahead of Round 2 of the 2025 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship at Canada Heights after he has been slogging it out on the GP scene around Europe these past few months.
John was struggling at the Hawkstone Park opener with a knee injury but managed to tough it out for a 7th and a 9th for 6th overall, but now fully fit and with plenty of GPs under his belt, the Scotsman could be a force to reckon with in Kent on Sunday.
Here is what John had to say:
Dirt Hub: Looking back at Round 1 of the British Champs at Hawkstone, how did you feel your opening round went?
John: Hawkstone was a struggle. I was nursing a knee injury and had only been riding one day since the first GP. I really was there to salvage points.

DH: How has being a full-time GP rider been for you?
John: Obviously it’s where we all want to end up when we start as a kid. I’m enjoying the experience and hoping to bring some of that speed back to the UK.

DH: Do you feel racing week in, week out against the best riders in the world will help you at Canada Heights?
John: The races are longer, and the tracks are more challenging, so I should feel comfortable racing at the Heights. It’s always nice to see friendly faces trackside, and this is an event I’ve been looking forward to.
DH: They have revamped the circuit at Canada Heights. Are you looking forward to racing on it, and do you like the track?
John: They always get a good crowd at Canada Heights. A good start is crucial, so I hope to execute the start and ride my own race. Always look forward to racing, and on a new circuit is always exciting.
DH: How has it been having a fellow British rider on the Lexa team been? Has it helped having Josh (Gilbert) racing alongside you?
John: I’ve been enjoying having Josh as a teammate. We get along, which makes things easy, as we spend a lot of time together. It helps at GPs to have familiar names there, so you can gauge how well you are riding.
DH: Do you have any other plans for the rest of the year besides the Euro GPs and the British?
John: That is the plan. Euro GPs and British. No other races allowed, which is understandable as it’s a busy year committing to that. So, race and get married at the end of the year, then potentially consider growing up.
