Mixed bag & Speed for Holab Overflow Yamaha squad at AMCA British MX Champs opener!

The Holab Overflow Yamaha squad made their first official outing of 2026 last weekend when they travelled to Bevercotes in Nottinghamshire for the first round of the AMCA British Motocross Championships.

Aboard the Yamaha brand and new team sponsors of Overflow, Boost energy and IDS transport, the four-man squad had plenty to offer in the way of speed, and despite producing a rather mixed bag of results, performances certainly suggested that both team owner Keith Ree and the riders can be very confident for the racing months ahead!

Starting in the 125 class, Aaron Colley produced the most consistent performance, going 4/1/4/4 to bag fourth overall, a good start to carry into the more technical and demanding circuit of Bromsberrow for round two. Aaron’s 125cc race team mate, Charlie Palmer, though, didn’t quite enjoy such good fortune! Starting with a fall on turn one of the opening moto and suffering a broken spark plug in moto three, Charlie’s scorecard was 19/9/DNF/14. So, following what was definitely a very frustrating weekend for Charlie, he will now be eagerly awaiting round two and ready to start climbing the 125cc Championship table!

In MX2, new boy Domonic Newbury on the 250cc two-stroke also found himself involved in a first-moto collision on the opening turn. Dominic, though, was offered a reprieve when the moto was red-flagged and, in the rerun, he rode hard to earn a 9th place. Following a moto two 13th, Dominic then reeled off a brace of very impressive, strong rides, really mixing it up with the leading pack to get home in a super 6th on both occasions. Those results meant that he was a well-deserved 7th overall.

Riding for Holab Overflow in this year’s Open class is another new boy, Tyron Cleaver. Quick off the gate and showing plenty of good speed. Tyron started with a strong 10th in the opening Bevercotes moto before a big crash in the second clash of the weekend dropped him down to a 17th-place finish. On day two, Tyron scored 13/12 for a final 15th overall.
