Finley finished second in the MX2 class of the AMCA British Motocross Championship this year, and now he heads into the 2027 season intent on going one step higher after signing with the FUS Marsh Racing team, with some MXGB rounds also on the cards…

Check out the interview below:

Dirt Hub: Do you have a pre-race playlist you listen to, and if so, name a couple of tracks that are on it?

Finley: I don’t ever listen to music before a race. I find that it distracts me, I’m quite an easily distracted person so that can change my weekend pretty quickly.

DH: When was the last time you cried?

Finley: Tricky question, but I’d say when my dog died about a year and a couple of months ago; he was 15, so basically my entire life.

DH: What is your favourite inspirational quote?

Finley: It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. Rocky, and I think that keeps me pushing in my riding, considering how many injuries I’ve had.

DH: Do you have any weird suspicions or pre-race rituals?

Finley: No, nothing like that.

DH: What drives you most to get up in the morning and go training?

Finley: Just how competitive I am; I hate losing, so I stay motivated.

DH: If you didn’t race, what sport would you play or take part in?

Finley: Football. I play 6-a-side during the week, but I would play at the weekends if they were free

DH: What is your biggest Phobia?

Finley: I don’t really have any phobias.

DH: Who is your biggest sporting idol and why?

Finley: Jeffery Herlings because of the amount of injuries he’s had and the fact he’s still one of, if not the quickest in the world right now.

DH: Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

Finley: Hopefully still racing; you never know with the sport we race. I don’t know what level, but I’m gonna keep working to keep improving.

DH: What is your all-time favourite movie?

Finley: Casino Royale, love a James Bond film

DH: Who has had the biggest impact on your career?

Finley: Both my parents and Ashley Wilde. All three of them have kept behind me after all my injuries and keep believing that I can do well. They have kept me racing a bike even after I’ve had dark patches

DH: What is your philosophy on life?

Finley: I think genuinely just having a good time is what matters the most. Do what makes you happy and don’t take anything too seriously, stuff happens, and alot is out of your control 🤷‍♂️
