Mewse, Oliver & Stock rule at Blaxhall! 2025 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship Round 3 - Rundown & Results

Blaxhall once again produced an MXGB barnstormer as the 2025 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship bounded into the Suffolk circuit for Round 3 of the series, which was played out in front of a huge crowd.

Again, it was the Crendon Tru7 Honda of Conrad Mewse who took the glory in MX1 with a faultless 1-1 performance, although his injury is still holding him back from what he feels is his full potential.

In Moto One, Chambers Racing’s Adam Sterry had the early lead after overhauling Chris Mills, who grabbed the holeshot, but soon Mewse would gain the lead and would stay there until the chequers. Sterry would ride the race without a rear brake and would fade to sixth. Coming to the fore, though, would be Lexa MX’s Josh Gilbert, who fought his way into second, where he had to hold off a hard-charging Jamie Carpenter on the Crendon Tru7 Honda and Tristan Purdon on the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna. Gilbert fended off his rivals to take second, with Purdon third and Carpenter fourth. DRT Kawasaki’s Taylor Hammal would come home in a good fifth, with Sterry in sixth, early leader Mills in seventh, the Apico Honda rider Martin Barr in eighth, the SAS TPC KTM rider Matheo Miot in ninth, and Calton Husband on the Phoenix Tools Fantic in tenth.

In Moto 2, Mewse put the hammer down again to take a convincing victory to claim the overall and remain unbeaten in the championship so far, although reigning British Champ Jeffrey Herlings will be back behind the line for the next round at Preston Docks, where the pairs duel can be resumed.

Sterry would finish a lonely second, almost thirty seconds behind Mewse but thirty-five seconds ahead of Purdon in third.  Gilbert was running in the third spot, but a snapped chain on lap nine meant a costly DNF for the Lexa racer. Hammal backed up his strong first moto with fourth, Barr was fifth, and Carpenter was sixth. Mills once again looked good and was seventh ahead of the Dirt Store Triumph, Joel Rizzi, who was eighth, Miot was again ninth, and Luke Benstead rode a blinder for tenth.

On the box, it was Mewse, flanked by Purdon and Sterry, with Hammal edging out Carpenter for fourth.  The Standings now see Mewse have a 25-point lead over Sterry, who in turn has a 25-point advantage over Gilbert.

There was no stopping Gabriel SS24 KTM’s Spanish ace Oriol Oliver in MX2 as he stamped his authority on Blaxhall with a stunning double-winning performance.  In Moto one it was the Dirt Store Triumph teammates Billy Askew and Tommy Searle in second and third after they and Oliver had to overhaul the fast starting Chambers Racing rider Ollie Colmer, but all was to change for the front two when Searle put in a heater on the final lap to snatch second from his young stable mate by just .001 of second.  Colmer would round out the moto in fourth, SC Sporthomes Husqvarna’s Charlie Heyman looked smooth and fast and would come home in fifth. Gabriel SS24 KTM’s Gyan Doensen was right in the mix early in the moto two, but a bike issue saw him make a pit stop and resume towards the back of the pack.  ASA United GasGas’s Ben Mustoe would fight hard for sixth, local veteran Jake Nicholls on the Crendon Tru7 Honda would finish in seventh, Steven Clarke would have a great ride in eighth, Phoenix Tools Fantics Josh Vail was ninth, and Chambers Racings Glenn McCormick was tenth.

Moto two was much the same, with Oliver clearing off into the distance at the front, meaning a mighty fine overall victory for the Gabriel SS24 KTM rider.  Askew was not going to make the same mistake twice, and he gapped Searle for second in the moto and overall, with the TS100 settling in third in the race and on the day.  Nicholls had a fantastic ride to the delight of the local crowd, finishing in fourth. Doensen was fifth, although that was a position held by Colmer until a clash between the duo relegated the Chambers Racing rider to tenth.  Heyman and Mustoe would continue their consistent run with sixth and seventh, Matt Bayliss taking a fill-in ride on the SevenSeven2 Ride Kawasaki was eighth, and SAS TPC KTM’s Florian Miot was tenth.

Behind the podium dwellers, it was Nicholls who would finish fourth overall, edging out Heyman, Mustoe and Colmer in that order.

Searle now holds the Red Plate by 6 six points over Askew, with the injured Bobby Bruce, who toughed it out for damage limitation in third by just one point over Mustoe.

The best racing of the weekend was undoubtedly in the 125cc class with Drew Stock and Charlie Richmond going head to head in both motos for the victory. In the first moto Richmond had the race lead after he had overcome the fast starting Lucas Moncrieff, but Stock couldn’t be broken and kept Richmond within his sights, before making a firm passing move with four laps to go, keeping the lead until the chequers with Ricmond in close proximity at the flag in second. Hayden Statt had plenty of pace in third, Moncreiff would finish a great fourth ahead of Harry Lee, Round 1 winner Ryan Waggott was sixth, Alfie Geddes-Green was seventh, Zane Stephens was eighth, Christopher Birndlay was ninth, and Harvey Collins was tenth.

Race two was a role reversal with Stock holding down the lead over Richmond, who clearly had the speed on his rival. Try as he might, Richmond could not make the pass, as Stock blocked his every move and rode a tactical race to claim the win and the overall ahead of a very frustrated Richmond. Statt again was third, Lee was fourth, Waggott fifth, Geddes-Green was sixth, Mocnreiff landed seventh, Stephens was again eighth, Brindley notched up another ninth, and Lewis Spratt was tenth.

The overall podium saw Stock, Richmond and Statt on the box in that order, with Lee in fourth and Moncrieff a fantastic fifth.

The standings now see just 13 points separating the top four riders, with Richmond holding a six-point advantage over Stock, with Waggott one point further back, and Statt still in the mix, six points down on Waggott.

The Championship moves onto Preston Docks for Round 4 on the 20th July.
