On a Bromsberrow circuit, which proved a real test for both man and machine, Lane Racing Yamaha riders Simon Lane and Liam Gale both shone brightly during round 2 of the AMCA British Motocross Championship.

Defending his AMCA Vets O50’s crown, Simon has really started the new campaign in fantastic form. In the contest, which sees Vets O40’s, O50’s and O60’s all compete together, Simon won 3 out of 4 motos. Regularly passing Jamie Dobson and his brother James Lane, Simon’s best win probably came in his last outing. In that one, he got past Dobson and looked on course for victory only to fall with three laps remaining. That tumble allowed James through, but undeterred, Simon fought back, dramatically snatching the advantage back on the final lap! Taking the overall win in his class, Simon also tops the early Vets O50’s title chase, already 48 points clear.
Showing that he is already tuned in to his Yamaha 450F, Liam Gale started with a storming ride at Bromsberrow. Gating in 2nd in the combined Open/MX2 class, he looked well on course for a fantastic big points scoring haul, only to fall on the final lap and drop down to 6th. Moto two and another great getaway saw Liam again hold 2nd early on before finishing 5th.
Moto three produced Liam’s lowest finish of the weekend in 12th before bouncing back and completing the meeting with a strong 7th. Those results meant a fantastic 3rd overall for him and surely the first of many podiums to come! After two rounds, Liam sits 4th in the AMCA Open Championship table.
The next AMCA round is on May 17th/18th at Brookthorpe where the third member of the Lane Racing team, Tyler Lane hopes to make his comeback following a broken collarbone.
