Can Todd mount a challenge at Duns?? 2025 Scottish Motocross Championship Round 4 and Youth Cup - Preview and Event info

It’s Duns time for the 2025 Scottish Motocross Championship this weekend, 31st May and 1st June, as it takes to the Borders region for Round 4 for the Pro and Adult classes on Sunday, with Saturday being the Scottish Youth Cup.

Conrad Mewse has unsurprisingly been the standout rider in MX1, with the Crendon Tru7 Honda unbeaten so far, but he is riding injured and reigning Champion Brad Todd has been showing good pace this year and will be looking to mount a challenge.  Apico Honda’s Martin Barr and Ben Edwards are in a duel for third position right now, but they need to keep a sharp eye on Jason Meara, who has been in fine form of late. SC Sporthomes Husqvarna rider Tristan Purdon is out racing in the States at the moment, so that gives the likes of Ross Rutherford, Carlton Husband, Jake Preston and Stuart Edmonds a chance to move up the rankings.  A wildcard to watch out for will be Taylor Hammal, who is starting to gain momentum for the DRT Kawasaki team and will be looking to put it on the box and go toe to toe with the title protagonists.

Max Harris – MX2

In MX2, leader Charlie Heyman is also racing in America with the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna team, which gives the perfect opportunity for the flying Max Harris to put the hammer down and make the MX2 Championship his own. In the standings, his closest rivals are Lennox Dickinson, Richard McKeown and Ryan Thomson, so Harris will be looking to ensure they are in his wake at Duns, but likewise, with Heyman away, they will also be sensing a title chance.

Riders who could throw a spanner in the works are Chambers Racing’s Glenn McCormick and Lewis Hall, who has just dropped down to MX2.

Lewis Spratt – Young Cup contender
Saturday’s Youth Cup features two combined races in the Youth and 85cc categories.
The Classes are –
Youth Cup – fastest 20 Youth 125 & fastest 20 Youth 250 riders after 3 rounds.
85cc Cup – Fastest 20 big wheel and small wheel riders after 4 rounds
65cc Cup
Auto 50cc Cup

Rhys Whyment is on the Hunt for Youth Cup glory!
There are some exciting contenders in the Youth Cup who will be looking to follow in the Tyre tracks of Ryan Waggott, winner in 2023 and Robbie Scott, last year’s champ, who both took the titles riding a 125.
This year, Lewis Spratt will be one of the favourites on a 125, but Liam Bell, Robbie Scott and Jaden Anderson look good on the 125s too, while Rhys Whyment is super fast on a 250f with Matt Fearnley, Zach Pearson and Zach Newlands quick on the 250 bikes.
In the 85cc Cup, with 2024 winner Malachi Allan competing for the MXGB win at Little Silver, Zach Hendry or Ben Alexander might pull a shock on the Small Wheel, over Tyler Mearns, Ben Donaldson and Jimmy McCann on the Big Wheels, but this class is wide open and the win could go to any number of riders.

Can Aiden Anton defend his Youth Cup title?
Aiden Anton currently holds the 65cc Cup title, but it is highly competitive this year with Finlee Pope, Cameron Berry, Josh Alexander, and others all set to go all out for glory.
The Auto50cc Cup was won by Finlay Hoskisson in 2024, who has moved up to 65cc, so the door is open to Ellik Miller, Sam Ratcliffe or young Irish rider Marc Bergin to take the crown!
