Nieve Holmes kicked off her 2025 season in incredibly strong form after a busy pre-season of training and bike testing, highlighted by a double podium in the Expotrade FIM Women’s Enduro World Championship at round one’s GP of Portugal.
Racing throughout pre-season in the Portuguese Enduro Championship as training for both EnduroGP and the British Enduro Championship (BEC), Nieve bagged multiple wins in the Women’s class across the four rounds. As planned, the terrain and conditions in Portugal proved to be perfect preparation for the opening round of the 2025 FIM EnduroGP World Championship which was held in Fafe on April 4-6.
Holmes came out swinging right from the off, claiming two test wins in the super-competitive Women’s class on day one to end the day in third with a sizeable advantage of one minute and 27 seconds over fourth place. This marked the Brit’s second ever world championship podium finish, having achieved her first at the GP of Wales last year.

Fired-up after an impressive performance on Saturday, Nieve continued her strong run of form to win another two tests and put her Sherco SEF 250 on the box again in third place. Nieve currently lies third in the standings, with the Expotrade FIM Women’s Enduro World Championship resuming for round two at the GP of Wales on August 1-3.
Fresh off the back of her double podium, Holmes then headed to rounds one and two of the British Enduro Championship in Lossiemouth, Scotland. Looking to add British Champion to her list of accolades in 2025, Nieve made a great start towards that goal by winning the Elite Championship Women’s class at both rounds, topping the timesheets by over four minutes each day. The BEC continues on June 7-8 with the Hafren Enduro in Mid Wales.
Also competing in the Welsh Open Sprint Championship just one week later, Nieve comfortably won round one which was held at Cwmythig Hill, Rhayader – the same venue that will host the Super Test and Cross Test at the upcoming GP of Wales. The series continues with round two on June 30 at Saintswell, where the GP’s Enduro and Extreme Tests are located, and will make for great practice ahead of round two of the Women’s World Championship.
