Mikkel Persson secures E1 podium at EnduroGP of Spain for Triumph

Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team’s Mikael Persson has claimed an impressive Enduro1 podium at round two of the 2025 FIM EnduroGP World Championship. Continuing his strong run of form, Persson put his TF 250-E on the box on day one in Spain, finishing third in class. The Swede delivered two top-eight overall results to maintain eighth in the EnduroGP championship standings. Jamie McCanney claimed fifth in class on both days in Oliana, with improving overall results leaving him 11th in the standings after two rounds.

After a challenging Super Test on Friday night, both Mikael and Jamie were fired up and ready for two full days of racing. Shaking off a steady start on Saturday, Persson found his rhythm as the day progressed, delivering a standout runner-up time on the final extreme test. His late charge saw him climb into second place in Enduro1 heading into the final test, and while the Swede missed out on the runner-up spot to JET Zanardo Triumph Racing Italia’s Morgan Lesiardo by 0.5 seconds, he still secured an impressive third-place finish in class and seventh overall, marking Triumph’s third podium result of the season.

Sunday brought heavy rain, delays, and cancelled tests, creating unpredictable conditions. Rising to the challenge, Mikael placed second in the first extreme test and used his skill and experience to manage the muddy terrain. Despite his efforts, the TF 250-E racer narrowly missed out on a podium finish in Enduro1 and ended the day in eighth overall. He now holds third in class and eighth in the overall standings ahead of his home round in three weeks’ time.

Jamie McCanney continued to build momentum at round two. An early crash on Saturday set him back, but the Manxman dug deep to finish fifth in Enduro1 and 12th overall. Looking to bounce back on day two, Jamie delivered a stronger performance, particularly impressing in the cross tests, to once again secure fifth in class and improve to 11th overall. McCanney maintains 11th in the EnduroGP standings and lies fifth in Enduro1 after two rounds.

The 2025 FIM EnduroGP World Championship heads to Skovde, Sweden on May 23rd-25th, where Mikael Persson will celebrate his home round.

Mikael Persson
“Saturday was really great! To miss out on second by 0.5 seconds was tough but I’m happy to get another podium with the team. Today was very different than that what we are used to with the delays and cancelled tests, so it was hard to get into a rhythm. I struggled with the conditions but I’m happy to still be third in Enduro1 in the standings and looking forward to my home round!”

Jamie McCanney
“This weekend was a struggle as I haven’t ridden this terrain in a while and with the uncertainty today, I found it difficult to get settled. I gave it my all and I’m pleased with some of my test results, but the plan is to keep the positive momentum in the team going, work on my race fitness and come back swinging in Sweden.”
