What an event is was to be for both the FUS team and Harri Kullas in particular! On day two, Harri was to score his first major win for the FUS Marsh Husqvarna team, winning the Main Event Superfinal after passing Jack Brunell on lap three, before leading all the way to the flag.

On day one of racing at the SSE Arena, Harri took 4th place in the Superfinal, although Belfast was unfortunately not to prove quite so profitable for his FUS teammate Elliott Banks-Browne. Comfortably making the final, he was to crash on lap nine then have a fellow competitor run over his leg! That incident forced Elliott out of proceedings but he is hoping to return this weekend for Round five & six at the P & J Live Arena in Aberdeen.

Elliott Banks-Browne had a rough weekend in Belfast.

For the final FUS team member Jake Preston it was to be another frustrating weekend. Always right in the thick of the action Jake was to just miss out on both nights in the Last Chance Qualifier. He will be back though and again giving it 100% in Scotland where hopefully he will make that currently elusive final.

On the podium, Harri said: “This weekend I struggled with starts, I don’t know why because usually I’m pretty good. The speed was there, I felt way better today. I thought we needed to get a top three start in the final then I could fight for the win, and that’s exactly what happened, started third and managed to pass Eddie in the first lap, then a couple of laps later got past Jack. It was good, I was focussing on my own riding and trying not to look behind too much like I did yesterday!  The corners had some deep ruts and I was OK in those, maybe because I’ve spent some more time at Lommel than the other guys!”

So those Belfast results mean that Harri, despite not having competed in round one, is third in the Championship standings just ten points behind series leader Brunell. In the battle for team honours, the FUS Marsh squad are up to second and on a march, chasing those big boys hard!
