Buttercup bonanza! 2026 Norfolk and Suffolk Junior MCC Round 7 – Report & Results

With just a week between meetings, NSJMCC were delighted to head to Buttercup Farm for Round 7. The first venue out of the Eastern Region, and it did not disappoint; the friendly welcome and family atmosphere stayed all weekend. Some games on the field Saturday night, where the adults beat the kids in a massive rounders match, really set the positive vibes for the meeting. As a club we asked for heavy water and deep ruts, which is exactly what we got – a great challenge for the younger riders to get technical.

The race order went big to small for the day, so kicking off with the adults. James Wadsworth put in a solid performance across all 3 races securing a 3rd overall, the track was challenging for the final race for the adult riders after a bit of water to keep the dust down. This mixed up the pack a bit; however, Alfie Geddes Green and Connor Bunkle earned their top places with impressive lap times to boot. A strong set of results for both Charlie Nudds (4th) and Ellis Aktins(7th) overall – the adult unders championship is all to ride for this season.

The Vets class saw battles between Darren Gooch and Jake Morphey once again in races 2&3 – the competition is strong between these two. James Taylor was hot on their heels with a quicker lap time in the 3rd race – a preference for the wet conditions perhaps?! It was great to welcome some visitors to this meeting, with a couple of adults racing for the first time.

The Youth class, with 125 and Open riders racing together, saw Daniel Marr and Finley Simpson battling it out in the 125 class, both finishing in the top 5 overall. The 125 class podium saw Chase Panter in the top spot, setting fastest laps in all 3 races, Bobby Topping taking the second spot, with Kieran Bullock in 3rd overall. Some close results in the top 10 with just a handful of points separating the riders.

The Youth Open was won by Benjamin Arthurton with solid performances in all the track conditions across the 3 races. Charlie Carter-Wright finished second overall after a solid 4-3-3, with Oscar Knights in hot pursuit, just 2 points between them in 3rd. Yet again, very close across the points for 4th – 6th with Josh Wyer, Lewis Morris and Archi Turner getting strong results once again.

The 85BW race saw some fast lap times and George Goodwin taking a clean sweep of 1-1-1 and fastest laps in all races. Excellent battles between Alfie Burkill and George Goodwin in the final race of the day; this performance put Alfie in 3rd overall, while Bentley Russell had a consistent day and finished 2nd overall. Great to see Albie Cowell and Harrison Townshend getting into the top 10 once again this round.

85SW saw an outstanding rider across 3 races from Jack Stanford, a brilliant effort to get back into first place after an off in the first race; the determination was immense! Harry Rennie, Roman Drew and Blake Booth all had a brilliant day’s racing into the top 5 overalls. Max Miller showed his skill and speed after moving up, securing 6th overall. A mixed day for many riders in this class with some unfortunate crashes – wishing speedy healing.

The 65cc class had Henry Heard put on a master class with a sweep of 1st place finishes and a holeshot; Harrison Webb was in pursuit of the podium all day, setting the fastest lap in race 2. An outstanding performance from Alfie Hayden, his highest finish since moving up from Autos, bagging a second place in the second race, giving him 3rd place overall on the day. Great to see Travis Hardy, Arlo Reeve and Sonny Newrick battling it out and putting in confident performances. A great result for Isaac Lancaster with his first top ten finish in 8th in the 3rd race.

Last to race – but certainly not least in putting on a show were the Autos. 28 little rippers lined up and blimey there was some close racing across the pack. Easy to forget how young these riders are! George Foames once again went 1-1-1 for 1st overall, with another podium on the bounce for Harrison Gale-Hesse taking the second spot. Louie Hutchings and Nicky Layt had some great finishes, with Louie rounding up the podium in 3rd place overall. Reggie Mayhew was on fire, finishing 7th overall, and it was great to see Bobby Waters and Elliot Brant in the top 10.

The next round will be at Wildtracks on the 16th August 2026 – booking in will open for members on the 29th July and non-members on the 5th August. See you there!
