Busy times and British Quadcross wins for Walker!

It’s been a busy few weeks for the Par Homes Zip Racing Quadcross racing team which started when they ventured to Italy to race in Memory of Connor Smith’s 10th anniversary along with a strong contingent of Scots to celebrate Connors’s life which was unfortunately taken from us all far too early, at this incredible venue representing his country back in 2013.

With a ‘heartfelt’ welcome from the Cingoli club as always, we were blessed with 10 Bikes which had been carefully collected from Scotland to here and across the water, a treat provided by Bill Smith, Connors Father. It was celebrated with a traditional Italian feast on the Saturday night in the ‘Cingoli moto clubs’ Club house with over 100 guests eating all cared for by members of the club ,

Sunday saw some awesome racing in all 3 classes, to make Bill Smith so proud I am sure!

Team racer Harry Walker, back only 2 weeks after his shoulder injury in Estonia, entered Saturday’s warm up session with some in trepidation I am sure, but was able to turn the heat up on the Sunday with a concoction of pain killers and Adhesive strapping!

Qualification, was P3 , 0.1s behind Mastronardi and an absolutely on fire Turrini, a further second ahead.

Moto 1 was an incredibly pressured lead for 9/10th’s of the race with seasoned Italian Mastronardi within half a second of each other all race long with the lead swapping two-three times over.

Harry finished P2 at the end and was more than satisfied to be back up to pace.

Moto 2 was similar with Harry P2 and Turrini unable to make any impression on the pair of them up front

In the Supafinale (top 3 from each quad group) saw Turrini take the win with Mastronardi second, followed by Harry in 3rd.

The podium was a ‘Salami sandwich’ with Harry wedged between the Two Italian’s.  A terrific weekend had by all, and a terrific confidence boost for Harry going into round 4 of the Official ACU British championship with a 28 point lead, at Dean Moor where Harry took his first ever British championship overall win some 6 yrs ago at 18 Years old.

At Dean Moor took a couple of club runs on the Saturday as a warm up, and saw Harry take total control of the field.

Sunday’s qualifying session was to come Harrys way after a blistering lap by Murray Graham was to be pipped in the last lap by a 0.3s margin.

Moto 1 was a win by some 27 seconds at the finish for Harry, and Moto 2 unfortunately saw Dean Dillon suffer a mechanical failure which gifted Chad Beavers P2 behind Harry by a mere 6.6 seconds.

Moto 3, Harry came through the pack after a bumpy start and getting squashed in a bit. It looked like P2 would have to be settled for but a charge on the penultimate lap saw an awesome move on Dillon to take the win by a mere 1.3 seconds.

In all a terrific win extending his points lead to 59 points in the ACU British Quadcross Championship, which is a nice buffer with 6 races left.

Now it’s time to concentrate on the two European rounds, one here in the UK and the other in Northern Ireland both this month.
