Following the success of its first season, the 179MX StubbleX Championship is back for 2026/27, with an expanded programme of racing, practice days and a big initiative aimed at getting the youngest riders onto the track.

The second running of the winter championship gets underway with a double-header on 3rd and 4th October, before continuing through November, December and into January.
179MX are looking to build on the success of year one, with the organisers promising a few surprises along the way as they welcome riders back for another winter of StubbleX action.
A wide range of classes will cater for riders from Peewee level right through to adults, with the championship featuring Peewee/E2, Mini/E3, Auto A, Auto B, Auto C, 65cc, 85cc BW/SW, Youth and Adult A/B.
The 85cc Big Wheel and Small Wheel riders will be scored separately, as will Adult A and B.
One of the interesting features of the series is the decision to run three separate Auto groups – A, B and C. Rather than dividing young riders purely by wheel size, the idea is to give competitors the opportunity to race against others of a similar ability and experience.
Free season for Peewee/E2 riders
But perhaps the biggest initiative for 2026/27 concerns the very youngest riders.
The Peewee class is one of 179MX organiser Steve’s favourite groups and, in an effort to encourage more youngsters to get involved in racing, Peewee/E2 riders can pay just £30 registration and race the entire championship for free.
The class is open to riders from four years old, with competitors required to have only ridden at Peewee/E2 level and not previously competed on a higher-capacity bike. Double entries between the Peewee group and another class will not be permitted.
For 179MX, the idea is about giving young riders somewhere to start, develop their skills and, most importantly, enjoy riding and racing without families having to commit to a full season of race entry fees.
There will also be trophies for the top three Peewee/E2 riders, with 179MX currently working alongside companies interested in sponsoring the awards.
Further trophy sponsorship opportunities remain available for businesses that would like to support the initiative and help the next generation of riders get started in the sport.

Alongside the championship itself, 179MX will also be running practice days, giving riders further opportunities to get track time throughout the winter.
After a successful first year, the aim for season two is clear – more racing, more opportunities for riders of different abilities and an accessible route into the sport for youngsters taking their first steps in motocross.
And with a complete championship available free of race entry fees for the Peewee/E2 class, 179MX is certainly putting plenty behind getting those next-generation riders onto the start line.
