Walton wins the Snowrun! 2023 Welsh Enduro Championship Round 1 – Race Report & Results

The First round of the ET James sponsored Welsh Enduro Championship took place on Sunday in the Crychan Forest above Llandovery in West Wales.

With a capacity entry of 180 riders that filled within 24 hours of the regs going live the Welsh Trail Riders Association ( WTRA) the first of the championship class left the start line at 10 am with four 25 mile laps ahead of them.

The course comprised of three time checks and a fairly quick special test that took in some very quick decents for those that had the B**ls to do it. With the final lap over Alex Walton from Rhayader took the win aboard a Gas Gas hot on his heels just around 3 seconds slower was Gethin Humphries also on a Gas Gas whilst the final podium position went to Carl Jones aboard a Huski.

Tom Wright took the Expert class win from Ash Jones, in the Clubman Class SevenSeven2 Team Green Kawasaki rider Joel Tett finished on the top step whilst just one second down on him was local lad Alwyn Morgan both riding Beta bikes. Paul Herbert took the Vets O/v 40 class win whilst in the Vets O/v 50 class Jason Rees took victory from former championship class rider Calvin Williams who won the event overall back in the day.

The sportsman class saw Andy Jervis finish first with runner up Ben Hardwick losing out by just 5 seconds.
