Dirt Store Triumph Racing celebrated another triumphant weekend at Round 2 of the 2025 MXGB series, with both Tommy Searle and Billy Askew landing on the podium in MX2 and Joel Rizzi showing continued progression in MX1.
MX2 Class: Searle Claims Victory, Askew Secures Second Overall
In front of an electric crowd at the iconic Canada Heights circuit, Tommy Searle delivered a standout performance that saw him clinch overall victory and take over the MX2 Championship lead, while teammate Billy Askew joined him on the podium with second overall.
Race 1 got off to a spectacular start as Searle grabbed the holeshot and immediately set the tone, leading early and even throwing a fist pump to fans on the opening lap to ignite the atmosphere. He maintained a strong pace ahead of Gyan Doensen for four laps before the race was unfortunately red flagged and ended prematurely. Askew made swift progress from 8th on the opening lap to finish 4th after a well-timed pass on Ben Mustoe, placing both Triumph riders in strong contention ahead for the overall.
In Race 2, it was Askew who got the better jump out of the gate, exiting Turn 1 in third with Searle close behind in fifth. Both riders quickly moved past Josh Vail on Lap 1. By Lap 3, Searle was on the rear wheel of Askew and began to apply pressure. After a methodical chase, Searle made the decisive pass on Lap 12 to take over second place. Although neither could reel in race winner Oriol Oliver, the 2-3 race result secured a 1-2 overall finish for Triumph in the MX2 class – an incredible achievement for the team and the brand.

Searle now holds the red plate heading into Round 3 at Blaxhall with Askew in third, just 5 points off Bobby Bruce in the championship standings.
MX1 Class: Rizzi Continues Positive Progress on the TF 450-RC
In the MX1 class, Joel Rizzi showed continued improvement aboard the Triumph TF 450-RC. After qualifying an impressive fourth, Rizzi carried that momentum into Race 1, rounding the first corner inside the top five and riding consistently as he challenged for fourth position. A mid-race battle saw him drop back to eighth before crossing the line in ninth after 14 tough laps.
Race 2 started strong with Rizzi again charging inside the top 10. Unfortunately, a collision at the bottom of the circuit on Lap 1 resulted in a heavy crash and an early end to his day. Medical personnel were quick to assist and treated Joel promptly on-site. Despite a DNF the team remains encouraged by Rizzi’s development and growing confidence on the 450cc machine.
Rizzi currently sits 13th in the MX1 Championship, and with time to recover and further dial in his setup, he is aiming to return stronger at Blaxhall.
Weekend Summary:
It was another brilliant weekend in MX2. Tommy was on form from the first gate drop, and Billy showed incredible maturity and pace to stand on the podium as well. Joel’s riding is also progressing well – the team are proud of the way he’s adapting to the 450 and are looking forward to seeing more from him as the season continues.
With the MX2 red plate in hand, Searle leads the charge into Round 3, while Askew continues his rise in the championship. Rizzi, meanwhile, will focus on his recovery and preparation.
Billy Askew is also set to represent the team at upcoming EMX250 rounds in France and Latvia, before returning to the MXGB series on the 15th June 2025.
The team extends its thanks to all sponsors and technical partners for their continued support and dedication. Dirt Store Triumph Racing remains committed to keeping their run of good form going over the remaining rounds.
