Title defence on course for Bailey! 2023 Trail Bike Enduro Championship Round 1 – Race Report & Results

Reigning ACU ‘TBEC’ enduro champion, Toby Bailey, opened his 2023 title defence at Copt Hall, Bedfordshire, on Sunday with a fine win in the Elite class on his KTM XC300.

Race Report by Roger Allan

In the gruelling 3 hour event, the Cheltenham man finished ahead of 181 riders and was the only rider to lap the 8 mile circuit in under 16 minutes. Amazingly, he recorded his best lap of 15′ 52″ on his 11th and final lap. The course consisted mainly of farmland and woodland but also included some rocky sections.

Unlike last year’s mud, however, the going remained completely dry throughout. Now sponsored by ‘Plews Tyres’, Bailey stated “the new rubber gave me amazing grip and no doubt helped me to victory”. Overall runner-up was Paul Hanks on his Husky FE350 who finished just over one minute behind Bailey.

The next TBEC event will be held at Stonebury, Herts on April 2nd so stay tuned for the report and full results found only here on Dirt Hub!
