Moving on to Bromsberrow! 2026 AMCA British Motocross Championship Round 2 - Preview

Following a fantastic opening round, the 2026 AMCA British Motocross Championship supported by Rokit Tyres goes again this weekend, April 25th/26th. Chapter two of the seven-round series will be played out at Bromsberrow in an event hosted by Uley MXC. The undulating, red, soft soil which prevails at the Gloucestershire circuit will certainly prove to be a tough test for the Championship pack, but if the action is even half as good as the first bash at Bevercotes, then it will be totally red hot!

In the Open class, new boy Tyla Hooley, making his AMCA Championship debut, hit the headlines at Bevercotes by reeling off three moto wins to build an early 10-point lead over defending Champion James Dodd, with Will Hughes in 3rd and a further 25 points in arrears. After having a break from the series for several years, Ryan Crowder made a very impressive return at Bevercotes to earn a super 4th overall. Completing the top ten at round one were Jayden Murphy, Liam Gale, McKenzie Marshall, Josh Waterman, Mark Roberts and Corey Hockey. All of those riders are certainly capable and ready to chase down the early top three as they look to post some big results and thus climb up the Championship table. The quality in this class is sure to provide some outstanding entertainment!

Talking of entertainment, the racing in the MX2 class at Bevercotes was simply stunning, with battles raging not only at the front end but right throughout the pack! Moto after moto, Jayden Jones, Henry Williams, Jimmy Margetson, Luke Dean, Rory Jones and Ray Rowson were really ripping it up! In the four hot motos, teenager Jayden Jones won the opening three clashes before reigning Champion Williams bounced back to take victory in the last one. That means that Jones tops the table 10 points clear of Williams, with Margetson in 3rd. When you also consider that the likes of Domonic Newbury, Lee Truman, Finley Evans, Harrison McCann, Jack Evans, Luke Meredith and Yarin Evans all produced at least one big points-scoring ride and were always right in the mix at Bevercotes, you just know the MX2 action will again be very special at Bromberrow!

Ashley Harland (2) and both Lee Sealey and Aaron Colley with one apiece all enjoyed 125cc Championship moto wins at round one. In the overall, it was Sealey taking the win and the early series lead, just 7 points better off than Jordan Wright, who was very consistent with a 2/3/3/3 scorecard. Any hopes that double race winner Harland held of earning the top step on the podium disappeared on the last lap of moto two when his bike seized while leading. Just like MX2, the 2026 125cc title chase looks to be very entertaining with it all going on right throughout the hungry pack. After round one, Colley, Connor, Challinor, Patrick Gilligan, Luke Phillips, Luke Newman, Linc Hasted and Ash Crossley complete the ten. In a contest which also incorporates the 125cc Youth title race, Oakley Skinner tops that one, 5 points ahead of Oakley Kettle, with Bobby Watson, Toby Adamson, Sean Smout and Oliver Bebb next up.

For 2026, the AMCA Championship Vet’s O40’s, O50’s, O60’s and Women all compete in the same motos. At Bevercotes, Phil ‘Factory’ Mercer won three of the clashes, the other victor being the very fast-starting Jamie Dobson. The mixture of classes certainly created plenty of intriguing, close racing. Thanks to his supersonic starts, Dobson was to accumulate enough points to top the Vet’s O40’s, 12 points ahead of defending Champion James Lane and Lee Martin. Moto winner Mercer was to top the Vet’s O50’s from Matt Ryder and Aaron Crowder, who, like his son Ryan in the Open class, also made a memorable return to Championship racing. Defending his Vet’s O60’s title, the very loyal AMCA servant Brian Staples started 2026 with another overall win as Daran Williams and Andrew Prosser completed the podium. Over in the Women’s class, Wildcard Ria Truman won round one with Holly Williams, Hannah Jones and 2025 Champion Amber McGregor next up.

Three Youth classes, BW85cc, SW85cc and 65cc are all competing together in 2026, and at round one, they were all to produce maximum points, winners. Teddy Merriman topped the BW85cc contest, with Mason Brown and Will Kremer joining him on the podium. In SW85cc, Logan Baker topped the pile from Phil Mercer’s son, Aaron and Reggie Cornell. Making it maximum winner number three, Cohen Llewellyn went through the 65cc card unbeaten with LJ Burton and Harlee Duffy also on the box.

After winning the opening three combined Clubman Seniors/Juniors motos at round one in style, George Clarke was finally defeated in a wet, last-encounter by Leighton Price. Indeed, Clarke and Price were really on it at Bevercotes along with the likes of Max Monk, Charlie Ludwell, Callum Radford, Ricky Ryder, Cameron Dolman and co. In the Seniors, it was the top three of Clarke, Monk and Ludwell, whilst Bobby Turner topped the Juniors ahead of Matthew Tranter and Charlie Osborne.

Any motocross Championship is a marathon, not a sprint, so will the round one stars race further ahead, or will they be reeled in? The only way to find out the answers is to get along to Bromsberrow, HR8 1PB and watch some great AMCA Championship action unfold! Racing is on both days with a 11.00am kick-off on Saturday and 10.00am on day two!
