Mewse crowned as Searle tops MX1! 2022 Revo ACU British Motocross Championship Round 7 – Race Report & Results

It was  a windy and wet weekend at Whitby for the Seventh round of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship Fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels. We saw the 65cc, Sw85, BW85, 125cc, 250cc, MX2 and MX1 classes compete for points, and some for the championship title.

In the BW85 class, the story was similar previous rounds, GRT Impact KTM rider Billy Askew stormed the class taking all four race wins and the kecks fastest lap in moto one throughout the weekend with Jamie Keith taking the holeshot in moto 2. Josh Vail from SJP Moto also had a strong weekend with one-third and three-second place race positions coming second overall Freddie Gardiner made his first appearance on the podium for the 2022 season after a successful weekend.

This was the fourth round of the Championship for the SW85 class, and it was an eventful round. With Robbie Daly leading throughout the first two races on his KTM, was heading for the top step on the podium, however, Gas Gas rider Hayden Statt pulled through on the last two races taking the overall win for the weekend with Robbie in second. JMR Foundation and Styler MX rider Blake Ward-Clarke, who sits third in the championship standings also placed third on the podium this weekend topping up his points. It is still all to play for in this class, one of these three riders will be walking away with the Championship title.

Casey Lister was back on the podium in the 65cc class after placing second at Culham but this time was on top step ahead of red plate holder and kecks fastest lap winner Marty Spires. Lister started the weekend coming second in the first two races then stole the show in races three and four. 21 British Auto Champion Cohen Jagielski had a great weekend missing out on the second step by one point behind Spires.

In the 125cc class, it was a familiar story to FatCat with SJP Moto rider Charlie Heyman storming the class taking every race win over both days and taking the Keck Fastest lap in race one, extending his point lead in the Championship. Wildcard Wal Beaney came in second and ASA United GasGas team member, Tyla Hooley made his debut on the podium in the 125cc class coming in third and moving forward in the Championship.

Tyler Westcott and Jak Taylor fought it out over the weekend, but Westcott came out on top four points ahead of Team Green Kawasaki rider Taylor, taking the Fastest lap too. Domonic Newbury made it onto the podium for the first time all season with Hudson Roper falling behind this weekend.

It has been an exciting season in the MX2 class and for Conrad Mewse there was a championship title to play for. He played to his strengths in the first race, taking the race win in moto one, keeping GRT Impact KTM James Carpenter behind him, however, the pressure was on for James as he needed to remain hot on Mewse’s heels to remain a competitor for the championship title. It was a change of events in the second moto where the Revo Seven Kawasaki rider Dylan Walsh took the lead after just missing out on the holeshot. With Walsh taking first in the second moto Mewse needed to remain in the game and put the pressure on himself to take second place. Carpenter fell short in the second moto and came in Seventh, giving Mewse the lead to take home the Championship title.

Crendon Fast Track Honda racer Tommy Searle extended his point lead by two points this round, taking second place in moto one and first in moto two after Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha team rider Harri Kullas stole the win in moto one, leaving no room for error for both riders coming into the last round of the Championship at Landrake Moto Park. Shaun Simpson rode well this weekend with a third and second place position, coming in third overall and a good amount of points added to the Championship.
