Marley Goes Alder Way! Portsmouth MXC Club Championship Round 2 – Race Report & Results

The Small wheels were the group to get us underway at round 2 of Portmouths MXC’s 2021 Club Championship at West Meon. Marley Alder displayed his talent in all 3 motos. Results of 1,1,1 saw him taking home maximum points on the day.

Joseph Wright got off to a steady start in moto one bagging a fourth place. His riding got even better throughout the day, 4,3,2 let him walk away with second. Archie Atkinson showed his skills in race two with a second place finish. That helped him grab his 3rd overall with results of 5,2,4. Jacob Francis put in a very good effort but narrowly missed out on a podium finish.

The 65’s saw Ryan Clift take the win in moto one and two but the last race saw him have to climb his way from the back of the pack. Eventually he made it to second and that was enough to reward him with the overall. Toby Bond showed his determination to keep the championship in his sights. 2,2,1 is what he walked away with. Ryan Taylor was in the mix too 3,4,3 gave him the final podium spot on the day.

Will Kremer was on hot form and claimed all 3 Auto motos. In a league of his own he went 1,1,1. Another great meeting for the young lad and his second 1st overall of the season. He looks unstoppable at the moment. Lilly Senior put in some great motos battling it out with Leo Adams. Lilly went 2,2,2 for a second place finish whilst Leo bagged 3,3,3 to secure him 3rd overall. Rex Fagan kept the top 3 in his sights but narrowly missed out. 4,4,4 was a great result for him.

Nicky Watts was the man to beat on the day in the mx1. Charlie Razzel put up an extremely impressive fight even grabbing a 1st in the second race but it wasn’t enough to beat Watts. Charlie had to settle for second with a 2,1,2 whilst Nicky walked away with 1,2,1. Dan Lawler was back strong after his big crash at round 1. A solid ride of 6,4,3 allowed him to walk away with a podium finish. It was good to see him back out on the track.

In the Mx2 Mark Atkinson claimed overall with some good performances. Two second place finishes and a 1st saw him bag the overall on the day. Ryan Turner got 3 amazing starts in the motos and looked on fire during the races. 3,4,3 and some very solid riding saw him get 2nd overall. Not far behind was Troy Hayward. He battled hard all day and some good results (5,5,2) saw him make the podium on the day
The Vmx was up next. The top 4 was a very close run thing. Billy Hazell claimed all 3 moto wins (1,1,1). Second was grabbed by Mark Morris Senior who was consistent throughout the day. A small error in race three off of the start meant he had to climb from the back of the pack to get 3,3,3. He wasn’t the only rider that had problems. Neil Grant had some problems in race three which took him out of the running for a podium finish on the day. Tony Hale finished off the day with a second place finish in moto 3. He went 4,4,2 for a well deserved podium spot.

Some breathtaking racing on display in the Youth class. Luke Southern was unbeatable all day. Some extremely impressive riding yet again from the rider. 1,1,1 secured a clean sweep for Luke and maximum points on the day. Second place could’ve been anybody’s with the high quality of racing on show. In the end, it was Max Aspden who showed everyone how it’s done. He stunned everybody with his 2,4,3 finishes. He was followed closely by Cody Spacagna who even holeshotted and led the last race. He rounded off the podium with results of 6,3,2

The Big wheeled 85s were last out on the day. Riley Ingram was unbeatable in his class. He won all 3 motos with ease. He went 1,1,1. Alfie Payne and Fabian Morrison were battling behind Ingram. A hiccup from Fabian meant it was Alfie who could go home with second overall with 2,2,2. Morrison never gave up and put 100% into every single race. He had to settle for 3rd overall after his results of 3,9,3.
