King William the third… – RAW Enduro Ballbreaker Extreme Enduro – Race Report & Results

Ballbreaker Extreme Enduro

RAW Enduro Promised a true Ballbreaker Extreme Enduro race for the third edition of this ever-growing Standalone Extreme race. Little did they know that the entire UK would be subject to horrendous cold wet weather on race day.

A fantastic army of Extreme Addicts took up the early booking option via the Brand New RAW Enduro APP, some top names used the event as preseason training, knowing that Wayne Braybrook has the experience to understand just what the best Extreme events are made up of. Natural terrain and no gimmicks Wayne plotted the perfect Extreme race around the Hapton Venue.

Having pre ridden the entire track himself, Wayne was confident that the course would test the top Pro riders, whilst crucially allowing the lower classes a chance to compete on a less torturing route specially laid on. The Pro and Expert class riders had an additional extreme (Out check loop) which had a split time receiver high up on the hill, two evil descents and an awkward stream tested them further on the day. William Hoare showed true class on his new Gas Gas 300. Hoare smashed the Pro class result from second placed Beta UK front Runner and local ace Jack Spencer. Jack had a great battle with Steer Commercials number one rider Joe Deakin on his Sherco 300. Deakin’s words after the race were “that sorted the men from the boys”.

In the Expert Class Joe Dawson got himself a Pro Class upgrade by placing 4th overall and taking the Expert Class win. Aled Price loved the tough conditions and worked hard for his runner up place in class. Richard Moorhouse rode the first ever Ballbreaker and hated it, this year the lanky lads smile said it all at the finish as he placed third in class.

Always a tough class to call the Clubman race threw up a close finish. Ash Jones absolutely loved the Ballbreaker, taking home P1 for his efforts on the day. Seb Preston is no stranger to moorland going, his second spot was hard earned from surprise third place rider James Cruikshanks. Anthony Turner ran out winner of the sportsman class to confirm he’s ready for his Clubman class upgrade for 2021.

Pro Start

Virtual runner up in sportsman would have been RAW Enduro team rider Bert Boam grabbing 5 laps completed at just 13 years old!! Bert had to run in the Youth 150 Class leaving Grant Thomas to take home Sportsman P2 on the day. Jack Sherringham grafted his place taking second place in the Youth class, with Finn Cavanagh doing fantastic completing his first full on extreme race in third place. Well done to those Youth riders for tackling an adult course, and a nasty one at that!

A full to capacity VETS class was blasted home by Richard Gaskell who took the win and second overall on the non Pro route. Darren Hayes was runner up, and Paul Westgarth took his the trophy plate for the final podium position.

Ballbreaker Extreme Enduro
The Ballbreaker did not disappoint, extreme events should have areas of the course that require more than one attempt, the bottom woodland had two nasty climbs that provided just that, they should also be relentless, and above all ride able to test rider’s mental resistance, as well as physical capabilities. Bike set up is key, but let’s be honest Extreme events are created for Extreme riders, this one is also organised and designed by one of the world best extreme riders, The Ballbreaker V4 in 2021 will be….let’s say different again, whilst providing similar challenges, the finish will be the biggest spectacle the UK has ever seen at an extreme event.

Let’s hope we can welcome back the great British spectators very soon, this will show the level of the Ballbreaker Extreme race to the people who simply look on a dream about doing it one day.

Ballbreaker Extreme Enduro
A monumental THANK YOU to all the riders for making this event the success it is today, to all the Helpers, Marshals and Staff, you simply are the best in the job. And finally thanks to all our customers old and new for the continued support through what’s been a testing year!!
Heads up everyone RAW are back on track in February 2021 when the NEW Championship season fires back into life!! Stay positive and look forward not back.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year folk’s, take care and stay healthy.
