Harris makes it four in a row as Jones seizes E-Bike lead at 2026 Formula Grasstrack Championship Round 6

Round 6 of the 2026 AllClear Services Ltd Formula Grasstrack Championship delivered a stunning afternoon of racing at the Malpas Farm Shop venue, as the John Madeley Memorial meeting produced drama, decisive championship shifts and a fitting finale to the Best Pairs Championship across both its Youth and Senior divisions.

From Cruz Harris’s extraordinary fourth consecutive E-Bike victory, to a sensational Pairs title decider that went right to the wire, Malpas once again proved itself one of the finest venues on the grasstrack calendar.

Wayne Broadhurst once again stood alone at the top of the Senior class, claiming his sixth consecutive meeting victory of the 2026 season to move to a commanding 240 championship points. His unbeaten record remains intact and, barring something extraordinary in the rounds that remain, the title is looking increasingly like his to lose.

Graham Thomas continued to be his closest pursuer, taking second on the day and remaining second in the overall standings on 234 points. The outstanding individual Senior performance of the meeting, however, came from Phil Thomas, who produced a superb display to finish third overall, ahead of both Kevin Gwillam and Adam Hawker. It was a result that lifts Phil Thomas to fifth in the overall standings on 181 points and underlines his quality on his day.
Max Broadhurst continued his impressive Senior campaign with fifth overall, while Glyn Edwards claimed sixth ahead of Adam Hawker in seventh. Colin How, Marcus Crutchington and Sam Crabtree completed the top ten, with the Crabtrees once again prominent in the field.

Peter Evans made his 2026 championship debut at Malpas and gained valuable experience in a competitive Senior field throughout the heats.

The Senior programme was interrupted during the B Final, when Nigel Bowkett was involved in a crash that brought the meeting to a close. The Senior A Final was consequently cancelled, with Broadhurst’s championship points awarded on the basis of his heat results. Everyone at the FGA wishes Nigel a speedy and full recovery.

Cruz Harris has been in a class of his own over the last three rounds, and Malpas was no different. Winning the E-Bike class for the fourth meeting in succession, Harris produced another commanding performance to take maximum points, backing up his victories at Malpas in Round 4 and Hampton Old Hall in Round 5 with another dominant display. It is an extraordinary run of form from a rider who has completely transformed his championship position since Round 3.

Harry Wicks returned to the class after missing Round 5 and took an excellent second place, with Hadlee Jones third on the day. But while Harris took the meeting honours, the bigger story in terms of the championship was Jones’s result. With Reggie Goodwin and Oscar South both absent at Malpas, Jones accumulated enough points to overtake Goodwin at the top of the E-Bike standings for the first time this season. Jones now leads the championship on 136 points, with Harris surging to second on 121 and Goodwin dropping to third on 119. South remains fourth on 114. The title race has never been tighter or more unpredictable.

Blake Woolley took fourth on the day with Maddie Adams fifth in her return to the class, both adding to their championship tallies in a closely fought five-rider field.

One of the most satisfying results of the day came in the Auto class, where Kobi Gutteridge marked his return to the championship with a commanding maximum performance to take the meeting victory. Gutteridge had been absent from the entry list for several rounds, but arrived at Malpas in excellent shape and was simply untouchable throughout the afternoon.

Harry Worrall came home second to extend his overall Auto championship lead, which now stands at 141 points, with Levi Collins, absent at Malpas, second on 100. Isla Gannon continued her impressive development with another third-place finish. JJ Falconer took fourth in another solid performance in his first season in the Autos.

With the Autos Final also cancelled following the Senior B Final incident, positions were settled on heat results. Dalton Wright maintained his perfect Cadet record with yet another maximum in the combined Auto and Cadet races, now accumulating an outstanding 124 championship points.

Rogan Woolley delivered the most emphatic response possible to the opportunity Saturday presented, posting a maximum in the Cubs class to take the meeting victory and open up what is now a commanding championship lead. With Lucas Astley and Albie South both absent, Woolley made every point count and moved to 144 championship points overall, a lead of 26 over the new second-placed rider in the standings.

That second place now belongs to Lillie-Mai Warwick, who followed up her Hampton third place with another podium at Malpas. The consistent improvement Warwick has shown throughout the season reached its most significant milestone yet on Saturday, as her total of 130 points moves her ahead of Lucas Astley (118 points) and into second in the championship. Dakota Wright took second on the day in another strong showing, with his tally of 117 points making the battle for third in the standings a very live contest heading into the remaining rounds.

Lilly Bence returned to the class and produced an impressive fourth-place finish, adding to her championship tally, while AJ Bence made their individual Cubs debut at Malpas in a competitive five-rider field.

Round 6 at Malpas brought the curtain down on the 2026 Best Pairs Championship, and the finale delivered the kind of drama that will be talked about for years. In the Youth division, the title was decided by the narrowest possible margin, with just two points separating the top three pairs across the entire season.

Hadlee Jones and Harry Worrall are the 2026 Youth Pairs Champions, finishing on 216 points after a season of consistently excellent combined performances. But the margin of victory was almost impossibly tight. John Cox Jr. and Dakota Wright finished runners-up on 215 points, just one point behind the champions, while Cruz Harris and Lillie-Mai Warwick claimed third on 214 points, a single point further back. Three pairs separated by two points across three rounds of racing: it is difficult to imagine a more compelling Pairs finale.

Rogan Woolley and Blake Woolley completed a strong fourth place overall on 193 points, with JJ Falconer and Harry Wicks fifth on 187. Dalton Wright and Maddie Adams finished sixth on 180 points in another fine combined performance.

Glyn Edwards and Den Edwards gave them a real fight, finishing as runners-up on 182 points, just two points adrift of the champions.
