Canada Heights was the venue for the second round of the 2025 Motul British Motocross Championship down in Kent. The Apico Factory Racing Honda team made the journey on Friday to set up on Saturday for Sunday’s racing. It was good to have Tom Grimshaw and family at his home round to support teammate Martin Barr in the Apico Pro MX1 Class.
After what has felt like an age between rounds 1 & 2, it was time to get back to business and qualify for a good gate pick. Martin timed it well and was one of the first riders to hit the clock. With a good gap, Martin’s first lap was his best time, and he ended up 9th in qualifying.
Going into race 1, Martin managed to get the jump on the gate, but didn’t get the drive up the start straight and was unfortunate to get caught up in a pile-up in the first corner, giving himself a lot of work to do. After making a few initial passes in the early laps of the race, Martin had some close racing with Carlton Husband and Josh Spinks crossing the finish line in 12th, with 6th place only 10 seconds in front.

Race 2 was a similar affair, with Martin entering the first corner around 17th, making up a few places on the initial lap to then get his head down and push on to 9th two-thirds of the way into the race. Unfortunately, it was too late to catch up with the front runners, and Martin had to settle for 9th position and 11th overall for the meeting.
Martin: “Overall, it was a frustrating day. There were parts of the second race where I felt I was riding well; the pace was there – I have to work on my starts. Canada Heights isn’t too forgiving and can be difficult to pass with not many line options developing. I’m looking to get my starts dialled in for Blaxhall in a few weeks’ time”.
Dylan Brown – Team Boss: “Thanks to the team at MXGB and Canada Heights, the preparation of flags, banners, and livery looked fantastic! It was nice to have the Grimshaws under the awning again and to see Tom recovering well from his Arenacross shoulder injury.
The racing was somewhat bittersweet. Martin didn’t get the best of starts in either race, but the speed and pace were there, which was frustrating for him and the team. We look forward to Blaxhall and round 3 of the Motul British Motocross Championship in roughly a month. Thanks, as always, to the sponsors and people who make this all possible”.
