First up at Hobbs Hole! Walsall MXC – Race Report & Results

Sunday 29th August gave us the first chance of the year to ride the ever-popular Hobs Hole Mx track in Aldridge hosted by Amca Walsall Mxc. With the current weather the track was provided with a perfect amount of water to keep the conditions perfect for what came to be a perfect day.

The track began to rut up nicely in the mornings practice sessions with MX1 Expert rider Michael Parsons setting the fastest practice lap on his new yz250 although it was Neil Kent and James Smith that would lead us into the start of the first expert unlimited race. Billy Bayliss was soon to make his way into second on Lap 5 due to a mistake by Smith trying different lines to make the pass for the lead. During all this Parsons and Kieran Banks both fighting through the back finally made their way closer to the lead with Parsons grabbing it in lap 9 to continue to hold it to the flag. Banks placing 1st in the mx2 class this race.

Dale halls snatched the holeshot for race 2 and was to lead it for 3 laps until Parsons was again to take the lead, followed by Banks. While Jordan Wright maintained a solid position of 3rd all race a much better result from the previous race and not much stress from Smith after he had another unlucky slip up.

Halls was to show us he knows how to start a race well in the 3rd moto. But this time it would be Banks to pass him first with Parsons having to make his way from 10th to claim position 2 in this final expert race. The overall in Mx1 went to Michael Parsons, followed by Jordan Wright and Dale Halls. Mx2 was to be Kieran Banks, then Jordan Saunders keeping it consistent was to finish 2nd with James Smith taking 3rd.

The Mx2 senior races kicked off with Ozzie Murray leading from start to finish followed by Mitchell Cooper and Daniel Morris finding their way past Lewis Thompson for the runner up positions while Tom Hatton was to put in the fastest lap but finishing 4th.

Race 2 concluded with the same 4 riders up front but it was Daniel Morris that would battle his way into poll position closely followed by Murray and Cooper.

Ozzie Murray keeping the competition strong by holeshotting the final race but was to have a bad lap near the end dropping 5 positions but still managed to hold onto 3rd overall on the day. Cooper and Morris tied on points but Coopers last race win with just the difference of 1.016 seconds over Morris was just what he needed to take it on the day. Hatton not far behind in points finishing in 4th but taking home the 3rd place trophy due to one of the other riders being recently coming down a class.

As for the Mx1 Seniors it was Daniel Wilson with the strongest starts and him and Carl Roberts would battle for second position on the day with Robbie Parker winning every race and producing the fastest lap on each also. Wilson managed to keep the 2nd overall as any challenge Roberts may have produced later on in race 3 was dismissed from a mistake in lap 4. Overall Jamie Arrowsmith and Alex Edwards were to just miss the podium.

The Vets/Evo class was definitely entertaining from the first race two riders came together on the start gate. Brian Staples maintained his lead throughout the first race while Jay Rumbold and James Smith made a charge through the pack on their evo machines but to no avail as bike trouble cost Smith the 2nd position and Rumbold got through to 6th. So it was Christopher Jukes that was to claim runner up on the first race and the overall. Ian Jesson got himself the 3rd in the first race but Rumbold made the points up in the next 2 races to snatch the 3rd overall.

It looked like Dylan Roberts was going to take the top podium step for the Mx2 juniors after a great performance in the first race. Although he was back and forth from the front to the back of the pack in race 2 it was the 8th position finish in this race that cost him the 1st overall to the consistent riding of Joshua Nicholl. Ryan Murphy got two fair finishes in the first motos but his 3rd in the last moto gave him the 2 point lead over Luke Bradley and Nathan Betts that he needed to take the final mx2 Junior trophy.

Adam Barratt was on fire in our first race in the Mx1 Juniors having a nice clear track leading from start to finish. Tom Waddilove on the other hand had to work his way through riders to take 2nd away from Gary Cheshire in the last few laps. Barratt seemed to loose steam in race 2 as he reached 1st position in lap 4 and then dropped back. It would be Leon Holyman to impress us with the wins on the last 2 motos but due to a poor result in race 1 he couldn’t quite take the 1st overall and Waddilove was to be the winner of the day. Barratt comfortably settling for 3rd.

Inter Juniors was to be the final race of the day and Rylee Francis completed his 3 win streak to take the win. With the only change in races would be Liam Dorman and Jack Lloyd battling for 5th we had Jonas Brown take 2nd, Taylor Collins 3rd and Daisy Gough with her 4th overall.

Even at the final race, the dust stayed down and the track rode great. Overall a very successful day thanks to Walsall Mxc.
