Brookthorpe bound! 2026 AMCA British Motocross Championship Round 3 - Preview

Following two super, exciting rounds, the 2026 AMCA British Motocross Championship, supported by Rokit Tyres, returns to action this weekend, May 16th/17th. The venue is Brookthorpe in Gloucestershire, with the meeting promoted by the Cheltenham Spa MXC, and you know this circuit will certainly produce the goods!

In the Open class, Yorkshire teenager Tyla Hooley tops the table 24 points clear of defending Champion James Dodd. With Will Hughes sitting in 3rd, the next five riders of McKenzie Marshall, Jayden Murphy, Mark Roberts, Corey Hockey and Ryan Crowder are separated by just 19 points. Currently completing the top ten are Liam Gale and Jacob Bowden. Although young Hooley leads the standings, it’s still uncertain whether he will be at Brookthorpe as he also competes in the ACU Motul British Championship MX2 series, and this coming weekend that particular title battle is in action at Landrake!

Despite having had to ride a borrowed bike in two motos at round two and also suffering a couple of falls, Jayden Jones still leads the AMCA MX2 class, but he now has company right at the top! Joining him at 154 points is the defending champion, Henry Williams, and this quality battle is sure to rage again this weekend at Brookthorpe! With the very consistent Luke Dean a further 27 in arrears, Jimmy Margetson, Finley Evans, Rory Jones, Lee Truman, Freddie Bartlett the winner at Bromsberrow, Ray Rowson and Domonic Newbury round off the early Championship top ten. At round two, with both Jayden Jones and Williams missing out on a podium spot, Evans did make it onto the box in 3rd and is currently showing great form.

Having taken the overall wins at both of the opening two rounds, Lee Sealey currently tops the AMCA 125cc Championship table. In the fast and furious action so far, Ashley Harland and Aaron Colley have also scored moto wins and at present they sit 2nd and 4th respectively in the title chase standings. After a great 2nd overall at round one, Jordan Wright was on course for a repeat at Bromsberrow, only for his rear shock to collapse in the final moto. However, despite that setback, Jordan is still right in contention for 125cc honours, holding 3rd in the table and just 20 points off the top slot. Next best in the early table are Luke Phillips (5th), Patrick Gilligan (6th), Conner Challinor (7th) and Luke Newman (8th). Over in the adjoining 125cc Youth class, it’s Oakley Skinner at the top from Oakley Kettle, Bobby Watson, Ted Bullen, Toby Adamson and Sean Smout.

In the combined Youth classes, with round one BW85cc maximum points scorer Teddy Merriman not in action at Bromsberrow, Mason Brown (3) and Will Kremer (1) shared the moto wins. That means that Brown now leads the Championship race 18 points clear of Kremer, with Byron Wheldon in 3rd. Over in the SW85cc, Aaron Mercer, in his first Championship season, tops the table from Oliver Moore, Tia Doyle, Logan Baker, Reggie Cornell and Cadon James. Having bagged the overall 65cc Youth win at Bromsberrow, Harlee Duffy has now moved to the summit of the title standings, 20 points better off than Harvey Wood, with Mason Tait next up.

Ria Truman is certainly the young lady they all have to beat in the AMCA Women’s Championship, having won 7 out of 8 motos completed. Having also taken the overall win at both Bevercotes and Bromsberrow, Ria tops the early Championship standings, 32 points better off than Hannah Jones. Sharing 3rd spot and a further 22 points in arrears are Caitlin Newman and the 2025 AMCA title winner Amber McGregor, with Erin Howes, Jaymee Garrood, Holly Williams, Daisy Blackwell, Ellie Allsopp and Lucy Fearn completing the top ten.

So far, the combined Vets O40’s, O50’s and O60’s have produced some outstanding action! At the top of what is a very competitive 040’s, the fast-starting Jamie Dobson holds a very narrow 6-point advantage ahead of the 2025 Champion James Lane, with Lee Martin, Sam Callow, Dain Traylor and Clayton Hogg also starting the campaign strongly. Having won 6 of the 8 combined motos so far, it’s super Phil Mercer topping the Vets O50’s, and he’s already 32 points better off than Matt Ryder. Back on the podium at round two, defending Vets O50’s Champion Simon Lane is now holding 3rd in the standings with the returning Aaron Crowder in 4th. Having won the 2025 title, Vets O60’s Champion Brian Staples has started the new season in equally impressive form and after two rounds tops the 2026 table 34 points clear of Daran Williams with Andrew Prosser in 3rd.

Finally, in the Clubman racing and in the Seniors class, George Clarke leads the way, having won 5 of the 8 motos completed. Also scoring race wins in this class are Callum Radford, who currently sits 4th in the standings, Leighton Price in 6th and Ayjay Simpson in 9th. At present, in the Championship standings, both Charlie Ludwell and Max Monk are ahead of Radford. Also in the early mix in the Clubman Seniors are Ricky Ryder, Jack Hollis and Mackenzie Tranter. Over in the Clubman Juniors title race, it’s Charlie Osborne leading the way, 40 points clear of John Cox, with Lewis Perks and Matthew Limer next up. In what is always an ultra-competitive contest, just 12 points then separates the next five riders of Bobby Turner, Matthew Tranter, Benjamin Prosser, Lewis Day and Oliver Woodhouse.

So Brookthorpe, near Gloucester, GL4 0UT is definitely the place to be this coming weekend for round three of the 2026 AMCA British Motocross Championship. Racing on day one should be underway by 11 am, whilst it’s a 10 am start for day two.
