Bolt conquers Hungary! FIM SuperEnduro World Championship Round 2 – Report & Highlights!

The FIM SuperEnduro World Championship stopped in Budapest for the second round of the season. Even if he was heckled a bit, Billy BOLT (GBR-Husqvarna) consolidated his leading position. He leaves Hungary still in possession of the championship leader’s 24MX red plate.

The 2022 SuperEnduro season starts on a foundation that could make it one of the most spectacular seasons in recent years. Even if for the moment, it seems to be under the mark of Billy BOLT, each GP can be won by any big favorite. We have temporarily lost Manuel LETTENBICHLER (GER-KTM), but there are still 5 big names who can win the day at each outing. The Hungarian Grand Prix is the perfect illustration of this. Thanks to the enthusiasm of Taddy BLAZUSIAK (POL-Gas Gas), the evening at the Budapest Arena was more than lively.

The Pole won the first final ahead of Billy BOLT who was not exempt from some errors. The Briton put everything back in order by winning the 2nd final having controlled this round and a Blazusiak still unleashed. It is a valiant Jonny WALKER (GBR-Beta) who accompanies them on the podium. The evening is going to end in style with a final of great beauty. The legend BLAZUSIAK made the show again by being ejected from his machine at the first corner when he seemed able to sign the Holeshot. Colton HAAKER (USA-Husqvarna) will be the first leader of this last Hungarian race. But the Californian couldn’t do anything against Billy BOLT who took the lead in the Final after a few laps. HAAKER will have to watch his back with the return of Jonny WALKER and Cody WEBB (USA-Sherco). But the evening “comeback” is once again signed by the “Polish Nightmare”, from the bottom of the rankings BLAZUSIAK will finish 4th in a spectacular round. BOLT wins ahead of HAAKER, WALKER and the Pole.

The SuperEnduro ranking is dominated by the official Husqvarna who is 35 units ahead of HAAKER. WALKER and BLAZUSIAK are 3rd with the same number of points.

In the Junior category, Dominik OLZSOWY (POL-Gas Gas) signed a new grand slam by winning the three green plate finals. That’s already 6 victories in 6 contested races for the Gas Gas rider!! The Pole is accompanied on the Hungarian podium by the Israeli Suff SELLA (KTM) and the Frenchman Fabien POIROT (Husqvarna) who both reach their first world podium. Overall OLZSOWY has a lead of 38 points over Leon HENTSCHEL (GER-Gas Gas) and 40 over POIROT.

Sonny GOGGIA (ITA-Rieju) once again dominated in the European Cup unchallenged. The Italian won the two Hungarian races, building on his strong position in the championship standings. He now has a 26-point lead over runner-up of the night, Aurélien ADDESSO (FRA-Sherco) who was on the podium in both races. But the hero of the day for the crowd was Roland LISZKA (HUN-KTM) who made his way to the third step of the Budapest podium in front of an audience completely committed to his cause.

The FIM SuperEnduro World Championship will return to action on March 3rd where the riders will head to Israel for the first time in the history of the series!
