The 2026 FIM World Supercross Championship has been brought to an immediate end, with World Supercross confirming that the remainder of the season will no longer go ahead as discussions continue with potential investors over the future of the series.
The announcement comes just days after the cancellation of the British GP, which had been scheduled to take place in Birmingham this weekend on 10 October. At the time, SX Global said the decision was one of a number of short-term operational measures being taken while it worked to secure significant new investment in the championship.
World Supercross has now confirmed that the entire 2026 season has been concluded, although it says discussions with potential investors remain at an advanced stage.
The full statement from World Supercross reads:
World Supercross has today announced, with regret, that the 2026 FIM World Supercross Championship season will conclude with immediate effect.
World Supercross remains in advanced discussions with potential investors regarding the future of the series. While those discussions continue, the decision has been taken to conclude the current season.
The decision has not been taken lightly. We continue to believe strongly in the series, its global potential and the opportunity to build on the foundations established to date. We remain optimistic that the ongoing discussions will reach a positive conclusion and provide a strong platform for the future of the championship.
World Supercross would like to thank its riders, teams, partners, venues, staff, fans and everyone who has supported the series throughout the 2026 season. Further information regarding the future of World Supercross will be provided in due course.
The news brings a premature end to the 2026 World Supercross campaign and means the cancelled British GP will not be rescheduled as part of this season.
Attention will now turn to the ongoing investment discussions and whether they can secure the long-term future of the championship, with World Supercross stating that further information will be provided in due course.
