It was a perfect end to the British Motocross championship season as Crendon Tru7 Honda’s Conrad Mewse took a well-deserved double win at the sandy circuit of Lyng in Norfolk, his sixth perfect scorecard of the title hunt.
Mewse, who wrapped up the 2025 British MX1 championship crown at the previous round at Duns in Scotland, was pushed hard by his rivals but in both motos managed to take wins.

In the first race, he made a good start and was in fourth place, but quickly made his way through to second behind fellow Honda CRF450R rider John Adamson. But by the third lap, 26-year-old Mewse started to detect an engine issue and had to measure his pace to make sure he got to the finish. Even though he was riding to protect the bike, he managed to get into the lead on lap five. He held a small gap over Adam Sterry to take the win by just under three seconds.

In the second race Mewse had a great jump off the gate and came out of the first corner in third place behind Sterry and Adamson. Riding the team’s spare bike to avoid any potential problems from his No.1 race machine, Mewse got through to second spot on the second lap them chased down Sterry. He passed the Welshman on the tenth lap and then pulled away to win by 5.6 secs at the flag.

It means five-times British champ Mewse once again took the double win to hammer home his dominance. The only times he was beaten in any races was at the last round in Duns when five-times world champion Jeffrey Herlings made a guest appearance and was the only man to beat Mewse.
Mewse said: “What a great way to end a fantastic season, to go one-one at Lyng is fantastic. It was tough as the track was very technical and difficult, and I struggled to feel 100% comfortable all day. Adam Sterry kept me on my toes, too. But a one-one is what we came here to do.
“Winning the British championship is my main focus all year and means a lot to me and the whole Crendon Tru7 Honda team and all the sponsors and partners, so it’s a great reward for all the hard work everyone puts in. My mechanics Rob, Willie and Luke have done an incredible job, and I must give thanks to Ryan and Dave for everything. The bike has been faultless all year. And of course thanks to my family, friends and supporters who are always there for me. I’m already excited about next year and racing the Crendon Tru7 Honda again.”

His MX1 team-mate Jamie Carpenter, who has been out of action since a knee injury in July, finished the season in 14th place thanks to his great run of results at the start of the season. And in the MX2 class, Jake Nicholls had to miss the round as he has been fighting illness yet hung on to eighth in the series.
Nicholls said: “I’m gutted to miss Lyng of all rounds. It’s my local race and my favourite track of the year. For the last ten days I’ve been sick so I’ve not been able to ride or train. Fifth in the championship would have been a possibility but I don’t want to go there, take risks and get hurt.”

Team manager Ryan Thorpe said: “Obviously it’s a shame to not have the full team here racing but Conrad did a great job to take yet another double win and show what a class rider he really is. Especially in the first race when he detected an engine issue so rode conservatively and still managed to take the win.
“The rider might be on their own on the track but motocross is a team sport and I have to give credit to not only our riders but the whole team. There are so many people working incredibly hard to make success like this happen and to win the British MX1 championship is all down to the whole team. From the mechanics and suppliers of our parts, sponsors and of course Honda for making the best bikes in the business. It’s been a great 2025 and we’re already looking forward to the 2026 season with Conrad, Jamie and Jake with us once again.
“We now have one major race to come when Conrad represents Team GB in the Motocross of Nations in the USA in two weeks. Conrad has never raced in the USA and we’re all very much looking forward to being there for Honda and Team GB.”
