Wilkinson & Millard on the hunt for the Red Plate in France! 2025 FIM World Sidecarcross Championship Round 8 - Preview

The penultimate round of the 2025 FIM World Sidecarcross Championship title chase moves back to France, midway between Strasbourg and Dijon, close to the Swiss border, with Killian and Evan Prunier hoping the pendulum swings back their way after a disastrous Latvian GP by their standards.

A rare engine failure cost them dear, dropping the French Champions to third in the standings, twenty-five points behind series leaders Koen Hermans and Ben van den Bogaart.

Despite all manner of problems for the red plate holders through the season, their downright speed has carried them through. They are now just four races from the title Hermans has been working towards his entire career. For Ben, it’s old hat, having lifted four gold medals in his illustrious time as a passenger, but he is as emotional and enthusiastic as ever.

However, hunting them down, and tantalisingly close to claiming the red plate is the British crew of Brett Wilkinson and Joe Millard. They sit just seventeen points behind in second place. Consistency and dogged determination are Wilkinson’s hallmark, accompanied by the skill and vast experience of Joe Millard. This pair have enjoyed their best-ever season, and it’s all to play for over the final two rounds.

The championship as a whole could not be in better shape, with the Lielbardis twins and Justin Keuben/Dion Rietman fourth and fifth, split by just one point.

All the above-mentioned teams will be going all out to maximise the Vesoul opportunities.

If Brou was anything to go by, the Prunier brothers will enjoy huge support from the partisan fans, on a track they know. The “French Connection” could easily be a deciding factor for them. Meanwhile, Hermans must stay squeaky clean going into the finale in Rudersberg.

Vesoul is also the decider for the EMX Quadcross championship, with that series also very close at the top.

Both classes will enjoy live streaming across both days of qualifying and racing, including the prizegiving ceremonies. So, it’s all eyes on France over the weekend of 6/7 September with fantastic action guaranteed. If you can’t be there in person, make sure you catch the live action as it happens on the live stream courtesy of FIM-MOTO.TV.
