The weather looked promising, with a blue sky and the sun shining. The sandy track was bound to get rough, with 3 solo groups along with the British Sidecar race. We saw 19 bikes on the line, they headed out for Practice straight into qualification lap times. This saw Wilkinson/Millard take the fastest lap by 4 seconds, Hodges/Henderson, Brown/Grahame, Kinge/Kinge, Campbell/Horton, Osbaldiston/Mackay, Rogers/Beavis, Pelling/Murch, Peters/Kirwin, Williams/Watson in the top 10.
Race 1: The gate dropped into the first corner, we saw Wilkinson/Millard take the first holeshot of the day, Kinge brothers in 2nd, Hodges 3rd, Rogers 4th and Brown 5th. Things were close in Lap 1, but unfortunately, a rather heavy crash for team Williams/Watson meant the Race had to be red flagged! Thankfully, both team members eventually got themselves up and took themselves off the track so the race could begin again.
All teams lined up once again. The gate dropped and we saw Wilkinson/Millard take the holeshot once again, Kinge/Kinge in 2nd again, Brown/Grahame 3rd, Rogers/Beavis 4th and Hodges/Henderson 5th. On lap 1, Kinge/Kinge had an unfortunate landing, which resulted in passenger Jim Kinge injuring his knee, and that took them out of the race immediately. With that, everyone moved up a position. It didn’t take long for Wilkinson/Millard to gap the other teams behind. Brown/Grahame also gapped the team behind them. Hodges/Henderson overtook Rogers/Beavis. Ozzie/Mackay were having a great ride in 4th, looking really strong and comfortable, but chasing them down was Campbell/Horton. There was a close battle between Pelling/Murch and Banks/Hunt, and making up the final top 10, we had Peters/Kirwin & Green/Green! As the race went on and the track got tougher each lap, Wilkinson/Millard continued to gap further and further, eventually leading by 30 seconds! Brown/Grahame also had a lone race, as did Hodges/Henderson, who were 25 seconds behind team 888. Eventually, we saw Campbell/Horton overtake Ozzie/Mackay, who were looking really strong today!! Rogers/Beavis were riding hard to stay in 6th place. Banks/Hunt in 8th couldn’t find their way past Pelling/Murch in 7th, but they were on their rear wheel the whole race! Peters/Kirwin finished in 9th, which was a great result for them, as was for Green/Green in 10th!

Race 2: A few less teams on the start line. We saw Wilkinson/Millard take another holeshot, Brown/Grahame, Campbell/Horton, Ozzie/Mackay & Hodges/Henderson in the top 5. Once again, it didn’t take long before Wilkinson/Millard gapped the rest of the teams. Brown/Grahame were still attempting to chase them down. Hodges/Henderson got to work passing Ozzie/Mackay and chasing down Campbell/Horton, and got stuck in the process of getting past Campbell too. Rogers/Beavis had an issue on the first corner, which meant they were coming through the pack from last place, and that they did! Mudie/Mudie had themselves a great start and were pushing hard throughout the whole race. Banks/Hunt were in a fantastic position, Peters/Kirwin also looking great! Unfortunately, we saw Hodges/Henderson retire from the race early with some mechanical issues! That was great for the others who went up a place! The track was really tough after 3 groups of solos but the teams kept pushing. Wilkinson/Millard gave themselves a gap of just over 1 minute! Brown/Grahame had a safe ride in 2nd. Campbell/Horton now in 3rd were having a great day. Ozzie/Mackay again were having another fantastic race, working really hard and keeping their cool to take 4th. Rogers/Beavis worked exceptionally hard this race making their way from last place into 5th, which couldn’t have been easy! Mudie/Mudie worked so hard that we saw the passenger cross the line on his knees, absolute credit for the effort to go all the way to the end, taking 6th! Banks/Hunt had a great finish in 7th, along with Peters/Kirwin in 8th. Pelling/Murch in 9th and Williams/Eastman making the Top 10!
Wilkinson/Millard have worked hard to ensure they secured 1st overall, every point counts. Brown/Grahame undoubtedly a strong pair, taking 2nd overall, and Campbell/Horton making it worth their trip from Ireland to take the 3rd step on the podium.
