Latvia is home for Daniels and Bruno Lielbardis, and as such they have an almost fanatical band of followers and supporters, vocal in the extreme and extrovert in behaviour. We can expect a very colourful FIM World Sidecarcross Championship Grand Prix in Madona over the weekend of 16/17 August when round seven of nine hits town.

The identical twin brothers, now just nineteen years of age sit fifth in the standings after a shaky start to 2025. They are just six points behind another set of brothers, Tim and Sem Leferink from the Netherlands. You need to add a further thirty-six points however, before you reach the British crew of Brett Wikinson and Joe Millard in third. Then it becomes very interesting indeed with just twenty points splitting the top three teams. This is the closest Wilkinson and Millard have ever been to the red plate, and they can almost smell it.

Koen Hermans and Ben van den Bogaart saw their series lead eroded week on week as the Prunier brothers flexed their muscles. The thought of a first French World Champion, once a distant hope, is now looking much more of a reality, with the brothers taking three overall GP wins to Hermans two. From a once healthy advantage, Hermans/van den Bogaart now have a slender eight-point lead over the Prunier boys. It is quite possible that Latvia could be pivotal with just six races remaining, and two hard, fast tracks to follow.
Madona sits about one hundred-and-sixty-kilometres due east of Riga the capital, and significantly less from the Russian border. It is almost two thousand kilometres from the Netherlands or Belgium. This is typical of the journey team Lielbardis and Estonian Gert Gordejev, to name but two teams, make every GP weekend. The track itself is a new one for us and is located among pine trees on sandy terrain. This type of going is likely to suit Hermans more than the Frenchmen, but at this stage in the competition, anything can happen
Much work has been carried out on the venue to meet the needs of the Sidecar Grand Prix, and we look forward to a high-level event.
So, Latvia beckons us all over the weekend of 16/17 August and this will be one to remember, so if you can’t be there in person, make sure you catch the live action as it happens on the live stream courtesy of FIM-MOTO.TV
