Warmingham showdown! 2025 AMCA British Motocross Championship Finale - Preview

It’s time to hand out the awards in the 2025 AMCA British Motocross Championship as the series reaches its conclusion this weekend at Warmingham Lane in Cheshire. And, proving just what an ultra-competitive, close and exciting title chase it’s been, more than one of the gold awards may not be decided until the final chequered flag drops!

One of the tightest and most tense classes is definitely the Youth 125cc Championship, as after 19 completed motos, just a narrow 11 points separate the top two lads! Currently, Woz Boyce leads the way from Ollie Jewitt. So far, Jewitt has actually outscored Boyce 4-3 on podium placings, but machine issues suffered at Lower Drayton could well prove to be ultimately costly for Ollie! Should those top two unexpectedly fail though at Warmingham, Linc Hasted, despite a no-score at round two, has brilliantly kept himself in the title hunt and could potentially still even snatch top spot! In this class, Ted Bullen and Oliver Bebb are also still mathematically able to claim a final top-three Championship position.

Over in the main 125cc contest, defending Champion Jimmy Margetson has again been simply brilliant and just needs another 25 points to make it title number two. On current form, that means it will be no surprise if AJP KTM pilot Jimmy gets the business done and wrapped up in the opening Warmingham moto! At present, the very consistent Wyatt McGregor on the Midwest Racing Husqvarna holds 2nd spot, 18 points clear of Luke Newman, with Aaron Colley and Will Turner the only other riders who can still have a say in the destination of the medals.

In a super MX2 contest, it looks like another nerve-jingling, down-to-the-wire finish is in prospect after FUS Marsh Honda pilot Henry Williams and CPMX Racing KTM pilot Josh Waterman have just about matched each other’s scoring moto for moto throughout the campaign. And, that’s why just 16 points currently separate them at the top of the standings as they travel to Warmingham Lane. Having been on the podium at all five rounds, it’s Henry in pole position, but also watch out for Luke Dean sitting in 3rd place! Last time out at Hawkstone Park, Luke took the MX2 overall win, and that means that he his still very much right in title contention. On his 2T 250cc HM Racing Fantic, Luke is 15 points behind Josh and trails leader Henry by 31 points. It’s a big ask, but as everyone knows, fortunes in motocross can very quickly change, and just about anything could still happen in the four remaining series motos! Currently 4th in the MX2 class is the always consistent and hard charging Luke Meredith, with Yarin Evans, Jordan Wright and Logan Wilcox next up.

Over in the Open class, it’s down to a two-rider shootout for the title as James Dodd on the FUS Marsh Honda leads AJP Racing pilot Jayden Ashwell by 36 points. Doddy has led the Championship table all the way this season, but Jayden has always been in touch and has taken the overall win at the last two rounds held at Lower Drayton and Hawkstone Park. Currently sitting in 3rd, Will Hughes requires just 4 points to confirm a final top-three spot as James Bates, Joshua Fletcher-Williams, and Luke Bull complete the top six.

In the Women’s Championship, Amber McGregor on the Midwest Racing Husqvarna is edging very close to her first AMCA title. On the podium in the opening four rounds of the series, the consistent Amber holds a nice 55-point advantage over Erin Howes. Whilst Erin then has a 30-point lead over Hannah Jones, it’s certainly tight from there downwards. At present, Hannah is only a single point better off than Holly Williams, with Jaymee Garrood then just a further 10 in arrears. This class could prove to be very intriguing and red-hot at Warmingham as the battle for the final top three medals looks like producing a tense conclusion!

Right from the off, Stanley Siebert has led the BW85cc charge and travels to Warmingham Lane 50 points clear of Sean Smout. Indeed, these two lads have been the dominant force in this class, with Siebert having started the series by reeling off eight straight moto wins. Finn Fitzgerald, Aston Whitehead, Ryan Tilley, Jimmy Whiston and Archie Humphrey have also been very consistent throughout the series, thus mathematically keeping themselves in the hunt for a possible final bronze medal finish. Over in the SW85cc, the superb Freddie Smith has already wrapped up the title with Connor Johnston, George Milnes, Sebastian Perrins-Talbot, and Harry Sayce left to dispute the remaining medal positions.

Defending his Vets Over 40’s crown, James Lane carries a tight 17-point lead into the final Warmingham clash. All season long, Jamie Dobson has been right on his tail, and this one certainly looks like it’s going down to the very last moto of the season. With Lane and Dobson clear at the top, just a single point then separates Richard Meakin and Sam Callow in the race for bronze. There’s been very little to choose between these two battling riders, often just a couple of yards apart out on track and just like the tussle for top spot, this is surely going right down to the final chequered flag of the season!

Despite unfortunately crashing and breaking his pelvis at Hawkstone Park, Simon Lane has still comfortably already confirmed his retention of the AMCA Vets Over 50’s title. In this one, Ste Marlow is holding 2nd with Christopher Elcock 3rd. Although missing round 4 at Lower Drayton due to other commitments, Brian Staples looks on course for the Vets Over 60’s crown as he holds a nice 51-point advantage at the top over Paul Blick.

In the Clubman Seniors Championship, Michael Harbage has led it just about all the way and going into the Warmingham event, he requires just a further 16 points to wrap up the title. At present, Ricky Ryder holds 2nd in the standings, but the title table is very tight with Billy McGillivary, Oliver Parry, Lloyd Clarke, Jed Reeson, Luke Bradley, Louis Tilley and George Bromley all still in the mix and plenty to race for!

With Leighton Price having already wrapped up the Clubman Juniors title, just like the Seniors group, it’s still all to play for in the race for the remaining medal placings. In the hunt after strong season-long showings are Jack Breakwell, Oliver Critchley, Matthew Limer, Ryan Murphy, George Wilcox and Joseph Harvey.

So, the scene is set for this big AMCA Championship decider hosted by the Middlewich MXC. With racing on both Saturday and Sunday, the circuit can be found by using postcode CW10 0DJ and is easily accessible from either junction 17 or junction 18 of the M6.
