Utting steps up as Nunn & Geddes Green win the 2025 Eastern Motocross Championship titles - Round 6 Report & Results

On Sunday 17th of August, Woodbridge DMCC hosted round 6 of the 2025 ACU Eastern Centre Motocross Championship at Blaxhall. Backed by season sponsors Stebbings Car Superstore and Templant Hire LTD, a bumper 12 race schedule awaited the 160 riders that had entered in dry but testing conditions.

The Expert and Junior class riders were split into separate groups, meaning the championship point battles would play out in front of the spectators in an exciting format, with some top expert wildcards entered alongside usual Eastern Centre regulars. Sam Nunn came into the day with a 66-point advantage over Max Broadbelt in the Expert championship, while Alfie Gedders-Green had a 63-point lead over the rest of the Junior championship.

Expert Action

In race one of the Expert class, Tom Murphy stormed into the holeshot and the early lead with Callum Green close behind alongside Calum Mitchell and Shaun Southgate. Sam Nunn didn’t get the best of starts and fell on lap one leaving him with a lot of work to do while championship rivals were running up at the front end of the race. Murphy kept a consistent pace in the lead, while behind Calum Mitchell made his way past Green and into second halfway through the race. Max Broadbelt, unfortunately, had issues, meaning he dropped out of the top five, leaving Bayliss Utting to make his way through and onto the back wheel of Callum Green. Utting soon passed Green and got close to catching the top two on the final lap, but ran out of time, meaning Tom Murphy grabbed the race one win ahead of Mitchell in second, Utting was third with Callum Green in fourth and Travis Steels in fifth.

Expert race two got underway with Bayliss Utting, Travis Steels and Tony Craig all up inside the top three early on. Joe Leeks and Sam Nunn were fighting hard further back, while Calum Mitchell got out of the gate well once more. Race one winner Murphy was buried mid-pack and found it tricky making his way towards the top ten. Utting looked in dominant fashion as he pulled away from the pack lap after lap and took race two victory ahead of Calum Mitchell in second, Travis Steels in third, and Tony Craig in a solid fourth. Joe Leeks finished ahead of Nunn after both having a great battle all race long.

Calum Mitchell

In Race three, it was Callum Green who charged in the lead from the gatedrop, with Steels, Craig and Mitchell all in behind. Mitchell made light work of Craig, and then soon Steels moved into second and put pressure on leader Green. Murphy and Nunn were duking it out further back, but both didn’t have the pace to match the top three. Mitchell made his way past Green with a good move and started to check out from second place, showing electric speed on his triumph machine. Mitchell set out on his final lap, but halfway through, disaster struck, and he went down with what looked like bike issues, handing the lead back to Callum Green and the eventual race win. Mitchell was unable to finish the race, which was a great shame, meaning all of the top 15 would gain a place on the final lap. Green was victorious ahead of Steels in second, Murphy finished in third, Craig in fourth and Nunn in fifth.

The overall honours of the Expert class would go to Bayliss Utting on 60 points, ahead of Travis Steels in second on 58 points. In third was Callum Green with 55 points.

Sam Nunn’s 7th overall means he wraps up the Eastern Centre championship for 2025 and his second title in as many years. Sam’s consistent results this year have seen him grind down his rivals and put him in the top spot!

Junior B start

In the Junior championship class, it was Alfie Geddes-Green who took the overall with a perfect 1-1-1 set of results for a full 75 points. In second overall was Travis Bixby with 62 points, and in third was James Rowsell with 56 points.

Junior champion Alfie Geddes Green

That means young Alfie Geddes-Green wraps up the Junior championship with a round to go and doing so in impressive style. His silky riding style and tenacious attitude have seen him dominate the junior class in 2025 and will no doubt be a force to come in future years!

Junior Action

In the support ‘B’class, it was Joe Scillitoe with the overall carding a 1-2-3 ahead of Bradley Allen in second with a 4-1-2. In third was Lewis Wells with a 3-4-4.

The support ‘C’ class overall was taken by Reece Gill with a 2-1-1, in second was Shaun Tacey with a 1-2-3, and in third was Damian Flack with a 3-4-5 finish.
