The curtain comes down this weekend, August 8th/9th, on the 2026 AMCA British Motocross Championship supported by Rokit Tyres, and it’s certainly going to be a tense, exciting and very interesting affair in several of the classes! Hosted by the Middlewich MXC at their popular Warmingham Lane circuit, there are just four motos to be contested until the destination of the titles will be confirmed!

Three weeks ago at Seven Hills during round six, Brian Staples (Vets Over 60’s) and young Harvey Wood (Youth 65cc) confirmed their respective crowns with still one to spare, so now let’s have a look at who might be joining them on the 2026 AMCA roll of honour. Going into Warmingham, the closest title battle is without doubt the very exciting 125cc class as Lee Sealey and Ashley Harland are incredibly close after 22 completed motos, locked together at the top of the standings on 482 points apiece! Although Sealey has led this one right from the series off, Harland appears the rider with momentum, having bagged maximum points last time out at Seven Hills. Just 35 points off the top two and having been ultra-consistent all season, Jordan Wright is also right in the mix and could still have a massive say in the destination of the title. Worst-case scenario, the LRT Yamaha rider will at least finish 3rd in the final table. This is going to be an absolute thriller, but just who will be crowned the 125cc King?
Also having a great season, Luke Phillips currently holds 4th in the 125cc standings ahead of Patrick Gilligan, the injured Aaron Colley, Luke Newman, Phil Burton, Charlie Palmer and Conner Challinor. Over in the Youth 125cc, season-long pace-setter Oakley Skinner was a non-starter at Seven Hills, so now finds himself 4th in the standings behind leader Bobby Watson, Sean Smout and Ted Bullen. Smout, the overall winner at round six, is still 59 points behind Watson, who, barring disaster, appears to now be the firm favourite for the title. In this one, Toby Adamson is the only other rider who could mathematically trouble the top three.
Another contest that looks set to go all the way and right down to the wire is the intriguing battle for top honours in the Vets Over 40’s class. All season long the fast-starting Jamie Dobson and defending Champion James Lane have been right at it in a high-quality head-to-head! So far it’s a 3-2 advantage to Dobson in the overall win count, but Lane has really hung in there and going into the final round Dobson sits on top but by just a very narrow 12 points! In the race to finish 3rd in the final table, Sam Callow starts as slight favourite, holding a 38-point advantage over Lee Martin, with Dain Traylor and Clayton Hogg next.
With Phil Mercer, the season-long leader in the Vets Over 50’s, not competing at round six, it’s now all change at the top. Taking control is the defending Champion Simon Lane, who, following injury last year, is now back to his best and 12 points better off than Matt Ryder, with Mercer only a further 6 points in arrears. This could be one hell of a battle which looks very likely to go right down to the wire! Will it be the very much in-form Lane, Mr consistent Ryder or ‘Factory’ Phil taking home the title come Sunday evening?

Another change at the top of a Championship table following round six at Seven Hills came in the Women’s class. With both leader Hannah Jones and Amber McGregor away racing in the WMX at Foxhills, Caitlin Newman took full advantage. Also taking the overall win at Seven Hills, Caitlin now has a nice 60-point advantage in the title race entering Warmingham Lane with Hannah still in 2nd but just 5 points better off than Jaymee Garrood. Next in the Women’s Championship table are McGregor, Erin Howes and Holly Williams.
It’s certainly been raging at the top of the Open class in 2026 as young Tyla Hooley on the Leeds Pallets KTM has locked horns with defending Champion James Dodd aboard the big red FUS Marsh MX Honda. So far Hooley has scored more overall victories 4-1 and a greater number of moto wins. That means that going into the final round of the series, Hooley holds a 36-point advantage over Dodd with Will Hughes also FUS Marsh MX mounted in a safe 3rd place in the table and assured of a bronze medal finish. Moving up the table, Tyron Cleaver on the Holab Overflow Yamaha has jumped right up to 4th ahead of Jacob Bowden, Ryan Crowder and Joshua Fletcher-Williams.
With a nice 52-point advantage, defending MX2 Champion Henry Williams has one hand on his title retention! Proving that the Championship season is all about being consistent, Henry on the FUS Marsh MX Honda has been on the podium in 5 out of 6 rounds. Also, ultra-consistent throughout 2026 is the current 2nd placed rider Finley Evans aboard his Southern Conservatories Honda. Finley took the overall win during round six and you can be sure that he will be right on it again at Warmingham Lane and racing to that final chequered flag of the season. In this one and also guaranteed a final top three spot in MX2 is 16-year-old Jayden Jones piloting his Wulfsport Meredith MX Rock Oil Suzuki. Like Finley, young Jayden as been one of the stars of this class and but for a disastrous round three at Brookthorpe would surely have also been right in title contention this weekend!
In the BW85cc Youth class, Mason Brown on the SRH KTM can also touch glory as he enters Warmingham with a big 70-point advantage. All season long Mason has certainly been the lad to catch winning 16 moto’s but keeping him very honest throughout proceedings as been the equally consistent Will Kremer who even led Mason on a couple of occasions at Seven Hills. At present Will looks to be in a safe 2nd place in the standings as does Byron Wheldon in 3rd, holding a big 72-point advantage ahead of next best in the BW85cc contest Jimmy Whiston. Over in the SW85cc Youth class, Aaron Mercer has led the charge all the way but after missing round six it now looks likely he will have to settle for the silver medal instead! Taking over at the top is Oliver Moore who enters the final clash of the campaign boasting a 64-point advantage.
All season long Clubman Seniors leader George Clarke has been in brilliant form scoring 12 moto wins and four overall victories. That means going into the final round at Warmingham he carries a big 71-point advantage. It will be no surprise if the immaculate Clarke now wraps up the title in moto one of the weekend. That will leave Charlie Ludwell and Max Monk to probably decide who’s going to finish 2nd and 3rd in the final Championship table. At present Jack Hollis is 79 points behind Monk as Mackenzie Tranter and Ryan Murphy complete the top six.
With three podiums at Bevercotes, Bromsberrow and Lower Drayton, Charlie Osborne is on top of the Clubman Juniors class. Going into this weekend’s finale, Osborne certainly still has a little bit of work to do holding a 29-point advantage over Lewis Perks with John Cox just a further 14 in arrears. Crucially though Osborne appears to have had the knack at each round of just about matching or outscoring his closest rivals so will be confident of producing more of the same this weekend to thus get the title in the bag! Although they can no longer catch Cox in 3rd, Bobby Turner, Benjamin Prosser and Oliver Woodhouse are the next best in this one.
So, get along to Warmingham Lane in Cheshire CW10 0HJ this weekend and find out just who will be crowned the 2026 AMCA British Motocross Champions. Racing on day one should be underway shortly after 11am whilst it’s a 10am start for day two. Admission charges are £15 Adults and £10 OAPs for a weekend ticket whilst single day charges are £10 Adults and £5 OAPs. On both day’s children under 16 will be admitted for FREE providing they are accompanied by a paying Adult.
