The Brit Report - Where the Brits landed at Lommel!

The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship rolled into the deep sand of Lommel for Round 15 of the MXGP season, and British fans who made the trip to Belgium witnessed a Brit lining up in the MX2 class for the first time this season – and were treated to an incredible weekend of racing!

Ben Watson secured another top-ten overall finish, piecing together a solid 11-10 scorecard aboard his Beta. The Brit is no stranger to the Lommel sand—he claimed his first-ever Grand Prix win at the venue back in 2020. Watson got out of the gate well in both races, a welcome change from his usual Grand Prix weekends, which made it easier for him to show his true potential. However, in Race 2, he dropped from 9th to 16th over the course of three laps, making it difficult to find his rhythm in the deep sand. But in typical Watson fashion, he dug deep in the closing stages to fight back and regain track position. All in all, a solid weekend for Watson and the team.

Chambers Racing’s Adam Sterry struggled to find his flow during the MXGP of Flanders. After a decent start in Race 1, early mistakes on the opening two laps saw him drop back to 26th, and he could only regain one position to finish 25th. Race 2 was a stronger showing, as Sterry battled just outside the top 15 during the opening five laps. A crash on lap six forced him to fight his way back from 24th to score any championship points. After putting together a series of solid laps, he crossed the line in 20th place – securing a hard-earned point for his efforts.

Ollie Colmer stepped up to the MX2 class for the weekend as a wildcard and managed to score the first World Championship points of his career! The young Brit, who lives in Lommel, had every reason to enter the weekend with confidence. 19-20 race finishes are a true reflection of Colmer’s hard work this season. He has quietly put in the effort, building speed in both the EMX250 and British Championship – and that progress is now translating to the world stage.

Drew Stock finished off the EMX125 Championship on a high, going 14-17 at one of the calendar’s toughest tracks. The 2025 season has been a clear step in the right direction for Stock, and that momentum has carried over to the domestic scene, where he secured his first-ever British Championship win at Blaxhall. His 14th-place finish in Race 1 marked his best result of the EMX season, and he’s certainly shown enough promise to warrant support for 2026 – help that could be key to getting him to more of these international races.

Charlie Richmond wrapped up his campaign with solid 13-22 race finishes. A poor start in Race 2 hurt his chances of a stronger overall result, but overall, it was another encouraging showing from the young Brit. Like Stock, Richmond has proven he deserves to be racing internationally. It’s tough for young riders to only get brief opportunities on the world stage – and just as difficult to even get there in the first place. That’s why it’s so impressive to see them mixing it with the best when they do get the chance.

Dan Thornhill lined up for the Chambers Racing team in the EMXOpen class and put in a solid showing, finishing 14-17 across the two races. Tom Grimshaw also made the trip to Lommel, but his weekend was less straightforward. After qualifying 12th, a DNF in Race 1 and a 26th-place finish in Race 2 were all he could manage.
