Solid MXGB sixth for Martin Barr at Blaxhall!

With everything packed early Friday morning, the Apico Honda team set off for Blaxhall, where round 3 of the 2025 Motul British Motocross Championship took place. With Tom Grimshaw still sidelined due to injury, it was down to Martin Barr to fly the Apico Honda flag.

The last couple of seasons at Blaxhall for Martin had not been the best, though this did not deter the plucky Ulsterman, who seemed upbeat and relaxed whilst getting ready for qualifying. After jumping on his brand-new Honda CRF450R, Martin struggled to find a clean lap and was unable to put in a good time, finishing 14th.

In race 1, Martin had a better start compared to previous races this season, inside the top 10. He then made a couple of passes and seemed to find his flow before losing his rhythm and breathing, causing him to tighten up. It was at this time that John Adamson made a pass for 8th. This jolted Martin back into his race, keeping the pressure on Adamson, passing him back for 8th in the final few laps.

Race 2 was Martin’s best race of the season to date. Martin made a great start in the top 3, looking comfortable and keeping pace with the leaders. Martin settled into 5th place and could see Purdon and Hammal and kept with them to the flag to finish 5th and 6th overall in the Apico MX1 Class for the meeting. This also moved Martin up to 7th in the Championship.

Dylan Brown – Team Owner: “It’s always a pleasure to make the journey down to Blaxhall, the club always does a fantastic job preparing the track and grounds as well as running a slick operation. With a new race bike to bed in, the day got better as it progressed. Martin struggled in qualifying but made up for it in the racing. The Honda has shown to be a formidable machine in the British Championship, and a top 5 finish in race 2 is where we expect Martin to be.

“We now move to 7th in the Apico MX1 Class of the Motul British Championship. We should have Tom Grimshaw back at the next round at Preston Docks and be up to full strength for Apico Honda’s home round. Anna and I would like to thank all the team and sponsors for their support in 2025, we hope to push on as a team and deliver the results you deserve.”
